Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - April 25, 2021

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 17th Birthday, Jessica Bassett!

Happy Born Today, Donald Reynolds – and congratulations to Christy, Ray, and the Reynolds and Carter families!

Donald’s impending birth was the top news at church this morning, and his arrival was confirmed by the time the buffets started at the Inn, but we didn’t have any direct involvement in his birth; and we only offered best wishes and a gift for Jessica.  We have heard that she’s had a happy day so far – including a birthday buffet dinner at the Inn; and we won’t comment on any birthday fun that Patrick might be helping her out with tonight – or possibly last night instead! ;^)

We need to back up and cover the rest of the news from yesterday; so let’s try to keep the rest of this update in order from there.

Our night at the Seagers was awesome – and sometimes-seriously-annoying thanks to Zack and Eli.  We’ll skip over the details of the pranks and attempts to bug us all night, but Zack and Eli were in top form all night; and we may need to avoid sleepovers and camping with them for a while if they’re going to be in one of their best-worse phases again.  On the fun side of the night, we enjoyed another Pizzeria pizza dinner; had some outdoor family fun time after that; and the family cuddle-and-movie time was pretty good too – even with all of the attempts to bug us.  We did not have co-ed sofa sleepovers, but we were together with Naomi and Aiden pretty much until we were ready to sleep; since the boys opted to ‘fight’ on our side against Zack and Eli tonight instead of just trying to either distract them with video gaming or protect us in other ways.

Tai Chi in Naomi’s back yard this morning was pretty good; a pancake breakfast kept the happy going – except for the not-so-food-fun moments from Zack and Eli; and then we were happy to get away from Zack and Eli once at church and Sunday school.  That’s where we found out that Christy was at the clinic and in labor – and that Uncle Mark and Aunt Deborah were handling the delivery – supposedly because Uncle Adam was too-tired to help out after a kid-free night with Aunt Leanne.  While that wouldn’t need to be true; we wouldn’t dream of letting facts get in the way of another boost to Aunt Leanne’s reputation! ;^)

We had fun at church and Sunday school, and the weather has been awesome – which is why we also took our Sunday school class outdoors for a while too.  We had a barbeque lunch in the back yard with some family and friends; Mom and Dad joined us – and some friends and cousins – for the afternoon biking and outdoor adventures that included some park exploring and playground time.  That kept us bys until we came home to get ready for dinner at the Inn; and then we were part of a small gang of family and friends at the late buffet at the Inn.  Yes, we were there at the same time as Jessica’s birthday dinner was happening, but her party was in one of the private dining rooms; and we didn’t even end up seeing her while we were there.  That meal was a highlight of our day; we had some study or work time in the office with Mom and Dad after that; and then we all took Silkie for a bedtime walk before heading up to our rooms for the night.  Bath or Jacuzzi time was next on the to-do list for at least three of us – and if it was four; we don’t need the details when we know the tub or Jacuzzis were only filled once!  That’s definitely too-much information for the twins in the house, so let’s move on.

That is all of the local news of the day, but we want to do a quick pandemic update before heading off to dreamland.  We’re hitting new records for daily new cases worldwide, but that’s entirely happening because of the outbreaks in India while other hotspots have passed the worst of the latest wave for various reasons.  Vaccinations are only making a serious impact in a handful of countries so far, and that will be good news if there prove to be no long-term side-effects or the need for annual booster shots, but we can’t answer those questions with either our own research so far or anything we’ve learned about the vaccines from other sources; so it is a bit premature for optimism or to declare victory over Covid.  We can assure you that there have been no side-effects from our Magi-powered ‘vaccine’ treatment; and we can also report that we’re at more than ninety-nine percent covered for everyone in the region – with most of the exceptions being residents that are elsewhere for the winter.  The second shots that are only for show will be done by the end of May too; so we’re good to go for the first holiday weekend of the summer – though there will still be voluntary restrictions requested for visitors and guests that are meant to be for their own protection.

Okay, that’s enough for today.  Our last school week of April should be fairly-quiet, but we can let you know how that goes for us with the daily reports, and don’t have any predictions to offer – other than that we predict that we’ll be sleeping very soon; so, until next time...
