Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 7th Birthday, Gerald York! Happy 21st Birthday, Jeremy Fletcher!
Those birthdays wouldn’t normally be news for us, but Gerald is one of Naomi’s cousins, so we heard about the vid-chat her parents had with him this morning at breakfast while we were still at Susan’s house; and then Cassie and Michael did the same this morning with Jeremy – though they waited to do that call with Rowen and Tim between breakfast and the vaccine clinic. This update is supposed to include the rest of the news from yesterday, though; so let’s do that now.
The high temperature for yesterday reached the mid-sixties; so that was awesome for the parts of Susan’s party that we could take outdoors. Her parents and their adult helpers had some games for us to play and compete in for prizes; kid-friendly barbeque and sides felt like a nice change to birthday dinner pizzeria pizza; and the Olde Bakery cakes are always a hit with everyone. There was no video gaming; the movies and make-overs were awesome; and the girl-chat time was entertaining – in part because we’re still too-young for that to get into any tween or teen drama issues.
Yes, boys were talked about, but they’re generally still gross and stupid and very annoying! ;^)
Okay, Ethan is usually given an exception from the other girls because he’s my brother – and most of our girlfriends wish that they were Naomi; while Aiden gets his pass because he’s so nice and his parents own the bakery. Yes, quite a few of our girlfriends wish they were me too, but that isn’t quite the same as it is with Naomi and her life-long and overt claims on Ethan. Moving along, Susan only had five friends staying overnight, so the rest of our friends headed home after the makeovers were finished; we had a long wrap-up bedtime chat in Susan’s room; and then we were in three rooms for the sleepover part of our night. Naomi and I were together in one of those rooms; we got more sleep than usual when doing our own sleepovers; and then we started our day with Tai Chi in the Connor’s back yard with only her Mom for a spectator while everyone else slept until shortly before breakfast. Having pancakes for that meal worked for us, we helped with the work before and after breakfast; and then we headed over to the park for the Easter Egg Hunt.
While we were busy with Susan’s party, Ethan and Aiden had a bit more play time and biking with the guys while Aiden’s parents were still busy at the bakery. Their dinner ended up being pizzeria pizza because Hannah didn’t want to cook; and then Hailey and Leah put Ethan’s and Aiden’s reputations at risk by getting them to go biking together – once around town on the full loop. Naomi teased Hailey and Leah about that today while we were all at the park, and the guys got razzed a bit by a few of their buddies, but I have already mentioned that Ethan and Aiden are nice guys; and they can admit that it is possible to have fun with younger siblings and cousins. That is a reality that is more-true for them with Hailey and Leah than it is for Naomi and me with Zack and Eli; so I’ll leave that train of thought there and move on.
The Easter Egg Hunt was the big news of the day for the kids, but Uncle Adam and Uncle Mark also ran a vaccine clinic today starting at nine-thirty and going through to around two o’clock with an hour off for a lunch break. Mom, Cassie, and Michael took turns helping out there and also getting some time at the park with us; and then we were at the med center too through until one-thirty or so. After doing two-hundred and twenty ‘vaccines’ today; we’ve reached fourteen-hundred total; that covers nearly-everyone in the Ridge River district that wanted and could get the vaccination over the past week; and we’ll handle the rest by appointment and possibly just one or two more clinics over the next couple of weeks. We’re also working out helping family and friends from further away, but that might be something we’ll need to work out over the next two holiday weekends if we do go ahead with doing that at all; since there are some risks with doing that and then having what we’ve been doing compared to ‘normal’ vaccinations.
That clinic was the most-important news of the day, but we still had a lot of fun at the Easter Egg Hunt. We won’t be doing the hunt for much longer – possibly not even next year, but then we spent more time today helping our youngest cousins and friends to do well and win prizes anyway. The treats and prizes were great, but it was the family-and-friends’ time that made the morning so awesome for us. Spending time with Mom, Cassie, and Michael had a lot to do with why we had fun with the work at the clinic too, but then Cassie and Michael were busy with his family again this afternoon; so we had another biking and play afternoon with our friends once we were finished at the med center. The weather has been even-better today with a high temperature in the low-seventies; so we had a blast out on the trails; our afternoon snack break included Emporium ice cream treats; and we stayed out until nearly-six before heading for our own homes. A co-ed sofa sleepover would have been nice, but tomorrow is Easter; so that wasn’t an option that we could get away with – and not because we don’t think that the Easter Bunny would skip any of us if we weren’t at our own homes!
A late night wouldn’t have worked for any of us with the sunrise service to get up early for; and that’s why we followed up our semi-late dinner with an evening walk; early bath or Jacuzzi time; and plans to go to sleep early too. That includes writing this update and having our twin-chat time early, and while Ethan is a bit more-tired than I am tonight after staying up later with video gaming last night; we’re both worn out thanks to all of the fun and all of the time-phased work at the med center. This really has been an awesome day for both fun and helping our neighbors and friends; so we’re very happy as well as exhausted. We still have a day left for our holiday weekend, though, and don’t want to be awake when the Easter Bunny comes around; so that’s all for tonight.
