Happy 20th Birthday, May!
Ehlana:
Turning twenty in 2020 is cool – though Cassie
won’t be in that club; since she’ll still be a teen for another year! ;^)
We’ve had a good day here at home, but
compared to a birthday celebration at the Universal theme parks in Orlando; our
adventures are dull and barely worth mentioning. While Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and Tim did
their best to help May with having a best-ever kind of birthday and they all
enjoyed the extreme rides and all of the other fun to be had in Florida; Ethan
and I had a quiet day at school. The
weather wasn’t as nice as in Florida, but temperatures in the sixties was still
awesome this afternoon, and considering the forecast for the next few days; we
could be wishing for more of the same if we do get our first true blast of
winter into the weekend.
That was why we played with our friends
after school instead of working at the lab.
We biked the entire trail around town – just in case that will be the
last time to do that until spring; we had fun at the playground; did our snack
break out on the trail too; and then headed home once it got dark. Dinner with Mom and Dad was a quiet break;
game night at the Inn was good and fairly well-attended for January too; and
then we did some work or studying in the office – which is why we’re heading
for our beds a bit later than we have during the rest of the week so far. Dad is getting ready for another week in the
city, though, and Ethan and I are glad to get back into our ‘real’ studies for
our unofficial doctorates; and we’re also, for the most part, rested up again
now too.
Sleep is still needed, and that’s all I
have for tonight; so I’ll wrap this up and move on to nap mode for the rest of
the night. Stay tuned; since the next
couple of days could be interesting if we do get a major rain and snow
storm. For the kids and teens in town,
we’re half hoping that we do get the blast of snow; while wishing that the
nicer weather could stay with us because this has felt more like an extended
fall than any winter at all so far.
Ethan and I will likely need to dust off our sleds and snowboards again
if we actually get a chance to use them this weekend! ;^)

hidden home of the Magi of the Light!

Ethan:
Skipping winter entirely wasn’t really an
option for us, so I’ll be grateful for every bonus nice day we’ve had. If we do get this blast of snow, it may not
stick around for long; so this would almost be the same as going on a weekend
trip to play in the snow – which would work for me; and for most of the adults
in town too. Too-warm weather when it’s
supposed to be cold isn’t good for everyone, but I won’t get into the issues
that frustrate the farmers around here – though that could be something to
write about next month if the maple syrup harvest this year is a bust. We could have a serious problem here at home
if we can’t get enough local maple syrup to last us until next year for our
pancakes! ;^)
I shouldn’t joke about that, but then we do
what we can to help everyone in our local communities through the family
business; and that includes helping local agricultural businesses when
needed. Ehlana and I don’t write about
that in this journal very often, but our local farms aren’t having the same
troubles as in other parts of the country because of our help in many more ways
than through Ehlana’s breakthroughs at the lab.
Sure, we do what we can around the world too, but it’s more-personal
here with the people we know; and we’re happy to make life better for our
neighbors.
I guess that’s enough for me tonight. We’ve had a good day, but even the biking,
park play time, and gaming at the Inn seems boring compared to Cassie’s day in
Florida; so I won’t try to compete with that for this report. It has also been a long day; so I’m going to
call it a night; put my toys away; and get some sleep.
May the Magi Force be with you!
