Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 11, 2020

Ehlana:

The snow amounts were less than forecast, but we still have two or three inches of the white stuff on the ground; so shoveling and playing in the snow has been part of our family and friends adventures last night and today.  Okay, it was more play than work for me and Ethan got to do more shoveling for the sidewalks and driveway, but that wasn’t enough snow to bother getting the lawn tractor and snowblower attachment out when the ‘men’ of the house could handle the job instead.

We had fun last night, but the snow kept our plans shorter; and we didn’t end up doing anything extra either.  There wasn’t any sleepovers; we only watched one show; and then they boys collectively did a first round of shoveling at all family homes while some of the girls had some snow play time; I took Silkie for a walk in the snow; and then we headed for our beds early in case of extra outdoor work today.  That ended up happening, but I helped Mom with indoor chores and only cleared snow from the front porch and steps.  Ethan and I got to have some snow play time with our friends this afternoon; and we’ve been with Naomi and Aiden since then – together at Naomi’s house until dinnertime; and in separate best-friend’s homes since then.

No, Naomi did not opt for a sleepover with Ethan instead of me – though she did pretend to try and get approval from her parents to do that this afternoon. ;^)

Moving along, Mom and Dad are getting a kid-free night ahead of Dad’s week in the city; and Naomi and I have had fun with her parents.  Eli has Zack here for the night too, but they’ve been abnormally-good – mostly because they’re pre-occupied with new games and toys.  That’s worked for us while we watched a movie in the living room; and since coming up to bed – though we’ve been surfing the web and chatting for a couple of hours now.  We have church in the morning, so it’s time to get some sleep now.  The snow fun today has been great, but it is going to warm again over the next few days; so it won’t stick around for long.  I haven’t decided how I feel about that, but we do still have months left to go in winter; so I doubt this will be our last blast of snow anyway for this season.  The sledding and snowboarding was fun, though, and we may try for a bit more of that tomorrow if we get the chance before it melts away, but I’ll let you know how that goes; since I’d like to play at the lab tomorrow too.

For now, it’s nap time; so I’m out of here and back to the real world.

This is Ehlana Proctor; live from the hidden home of the Magi of the Light!

Ethan:

Aiden and I have had a fun night at his house; we had dinner with his parents, sister, and Leah; played games together for an hour and a half; and then we’ve been on our own in Aiden’s room and playing video games since his parents were ready to head for bed.  That might sound boring or scary, depending on your perspective, but Aiden’s Dad is used to very early morning starts to his work days; so he really doesn’t stay up late very often.  My parents aren’t exactly party animals, but then I don’t want to get into what they might be doing with a kid-free night either; and I’d say that Aiden’s parents are more out-going than mine anyway.  They just have their fun earlier in the day.

Take that as meant without any inferences that we wouldn’t want to think about! ;^)

Moving along – and wrapping up; we’ve had a good day.  Being old-enough to seriously help out with the snow shoveling has been good-timing for me so far this year; and I’ll be okay with it if we do just get snow in little blasts like this once every month or so.  The heavier snowfalls didn’t happen here, but other places have had some seriously nasty weather this weekend; so we’ve dodged yet another major storm.  It might be fun to be able to take responsibility for that sort of thing, but as we’ve mentioned before; Mom has taught us better; and the unintended consequences of playing with weather can’t be controlled even by Magi Masters.

Aiden and I are ready to get some sleep, so I’ll wrap this up and call it a night.  Florida is warmer and our favorite collegians are having more fun, but this has been a good day here; and I love sharing everything with our family and friends.

Fortunately, we’ll get to do that again tomorrow; so I’m going to get some sleep to be ready for whatever adventures come next.

May the Magi Force be with you!
