Happy 9th Birthday, Naomi!
Ehlana and Ethan:
This update is coming to you live from
Naomi’s family-play room; and I’ll do the typing while Ethan is busy cuddling
with Naomi.
Consider that a bonus birthday gift, Naomi!
;^)
We’ve had an awesome day that started with
Tai Chi for three; we met up with the Seagers and others for a birthday
breakfast at the Inn; and Naomi got some gifts then too – including from Mom;
since she then took her kid-free day on the road and is in Crystal Springs with
Dad for the night. Ongoing birthday fun
for Naomi kept our school day fun; we had a special birthday lunch; and then
her party semi-started after school with some biking and play time at the park. The weather wasn’t summer-like, but it was
into the mid-forties; so we were happy to get out and play while also giving
the adults at Naomi’s house time to set up for her party after work.
Naomi didn’t try to have all of our friends
and classmates at the party this year – which was why we had extra treats at
lunchtime instead, but only Ethan, Aiden, and I are spending the night – and Aunt
Leanne is helping out by taking Eli overnight with Zack; though both boys were
here for dinner and the special Olde Bakery desserts. Ethan and Aiden got teased by the other guys
because they were officially at the party as our dates, but they’re getting
used to that – including the being on dates with Naomi and me. When we got back from the park and biking, we
had a few minutes to get cleaned up and changed while some of the other guests
arrived; the social time before dinner was short; and then pizzeria pizza in
several varieties was the entree for Naomi’s meal – a standard for kids’
parties that we don’t expect will change again anytime soon – especially in the
winter when barbeques are not a comfortable option.
Having an Olde Bakery kid for a best friend
ensures extra-special birthday cakes and treats, so our dessert options were
amazing too; Naomi opened her gifts after that; and then the boys got stuck
with a chick flick movie for our evening entertainment and the wrap-up to Naomi’s
party. There were only two cuddling kid
couples watching the movie, and the other guys and girls were segregated, but
while the guys poked fun at Ethan and Aiden; most of the girls wished that the
other boys were a bit more progressive – or maybe less-regressive in a
Neanderthal sort of way!
Naomi’s movie pick really wasn’t at all
horrid for the boys, but while we teased them about that while already having a
movie picked and ready to go; there was action and adventure to go along with
the romantic storyline that was also family-rated.
We are only eight and nine now!
The rest of our friends and the
parent-helpers headed home after the movie; Ethan and Aiden helped with the
post-show clean-up while Liz helped Naomi and me with doing our hair while we
got ready for bed; and we’re camping in the family room so that Naomi gets a
cuddle buddy for the rest of the night.
As always, try not to get weird about that while reading this in our
future. Liz knows all about our Magi
connections; we’re kids; and this just shouldn’t be considered strange or inappropriate
at our age.
Give Naomi a few years; and then she might
make sure that her sleepovers with Ethan are definitely inappropriate! ;^)
Moving along, we put another show on, but
won’t watch it all; we’ve been having a bedtime chat since Naomi’s parents went
to bed; and now we’re nearly-ready to get some sleep. That’s pretty much all of the news for us,
but I should add that Brianna is taking care of Silkie tonight instead of
having her here with too-many kids at the party. Mom and Dad had dinner plans with the Malloys
again; and Terry is being brought in as our structural engineer on the downtown
renovation project. He’ll work with
Uncle Blaine on designing the new stores and loft apartments, and since those
new shopping options will be very important for Naomi and me; we’re happy that
they’ll be drawing up those plans this year and then the stores will be ready
to go just as we’re hitting our tween years!
Finally, Cassie, Michael, and their friends are back at their college
homes tonight from Florida. This was a
travel day for them, but all went well; and now they’ll spend the rest of the
week getting ready for their next semester.
May will be back in her residential hall tomorrow too, though that
really isn’t a big deal for Cassie and Michael; since she’s had her own room at
their hotels for the past week anyway.
I guess that’s all for tonight. We really have had a good day; Naomi is
happy; and that’s all that really matters when we all wanted that for her
special day. The rest of our week may
get a bit quiet by comparison, but that’s okay; and I’m looking forward to
extra time at the lab while we head back into more cold weather through the
weekend.
This is Ehlana and Ethan Proctor; live from
the hidden home of the Magi of the Light!
May the Magi Force be with you!
