Ehlana:
There is a lot of news for today, so while
I’ll cover some highlights from yesterday too; let’s start with the top
stories.
Grandma and Grandpa will be in-transit
overnight to their first work-play stop on their winter adventures, but they’re
doing well and having fun even with all of the flying time and waits at
airports. Cassie, Michael, Rowen, Tim,
and May are safely in Florida; and they’re starting their adventures at the
Disney parks. Ethan and I wish we were
there, but I’ll try not to let that get in the way of our less-exciting school
and home entertainments.
The top family news story of the day is
actually from the Johnson clan. Malcolm
and Nadine have announced that she’s expecting with their first child; and due
in September. They’ll be joining the
parenthood club a bit older than their siblings and cousins, but that was part
of their own life plans; they’re ready to be parents now; and I’m sure they’ll
be good – if a bit different than some of the other ‘aunts and uncles’ in our
collective families.
Here at home, heading back to school was
fun for most of us; some of our friends and fellow students wished for more
time off – as usual; and our teachers got us right back to work without much
time to get distracted with post-holiday gossip or even going over holiday
homework. Ethan and I didn’t mention
that work over the past two weeks, but that didn’t take long for us; and wasn’t
worth even mentioning compared to everything else we’ve had fun with instead. Ethan and I opted for going to the lab and
archives after school; we’ve really missed being there even though the holiday
break was really great; and we stayed and played longer than we should while
getting back to our research or archives studies. Mom knew we’d do that; held dinner back to be
ready later than normal; and she and Dad did most of their office work before
we got home and had dinner together. We
still did a Magi lesson after cleaning up; Ethan and I did a bit of ‘real’
studying; and now we’re heading for our beds.
It isn’t that late, but I still feel the need for extra sleep; and we
can do that while in the usual January lull that will be with us through the
rest of the month before Valentine’s Day leads to more fun and excitement around
here.
As for the news from yesterday, we loved
the start of our day with the big-group Tai Chi; Cassie, Michael, and May were
at his house for a last gourmet breakfast; we were together for church; and
then Sunday school was fairly-quiet and near-normal. We had a quiet lunch at home; some play time
after that – though Cassie, Michael, and May also did a round of visits to say
goodbye to family and friends; and then we were at the Inn for a buffet dinner
that was also a last chance to see Grandma and Grandpa ahead of their
trip. Cassie, Michael, May, and Mandy
left right from the Inn; and then we had a wind-down evening through to bedtime
that included a Magi lesson, bath or Jacuzzi time, and getting ready for school
in the morning.
The top news from yesterday was really how
much I was feeling sad about saying goodbye to Cassie and Michael. That happened despite having a good day and
great holiday; so maybe the important point here is that junior Magi Masters of
the Light have unhappy moments too. As I
think of that, it ought to be funny that I can feel that sad at happy times;
and then excited and happy at other, not-so-great time – like when we’ve had to
fight Gwyneth and her goods.
That isn’t something to get into tonight,
but I should do a Gwyneth update soon, so I’ll check in on that for her holiday
adventures; and let you know if there’s anything interesting to report from the
‘dark’ side of the force!
For now, that’s all I have; sleeping is an
option; and I’m going to get started on that right now.
This is Ehlana Proctor; live from the
hidden home of the Magi of the Light!

Ethan:
Ehlana’s going to cover the news of the day
that we’ve both shared; so I’ll only add an archives update.
My books didn’t go anywhere or do anything
while I was away; I was able to pick up my work as easily as if I’d only been
away from it for minutes; and I’ll be done my work there by the day after
never; since there will always be more work for the Magi archivists that I hope
to be just the first of here in Witch Falls.
Life is already well on the way to being
back to normal around here, and might seem quiet by comparison for a while, but
we are Magi Masters; so that’s a relative perspective; and most people would
likely not agree with me – especially if they’d been around for the Magi lesson
tonight; since that was a lot of fun!
That’s true for pretty much everything we
do – even on the boring days, but it is also quieter around here without any
house guests, and I’ve had enough fun for today; so I’m going to wrap this up
and get started on my nap.
May the Magi Force be with you!
