Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 31, 2020

Happy 39^th Birthday, Patricia!

Ehlana:

Special days for Rowen’s Mom might not usually be a big deal for Ethan and me, but this year, she got a spa weekend away for her birthday; some of our favorite mothers have already gone with her on that adventure; and we – the kids – are spending the weekend with our fathers while the adult girls get to go away and enjoy a play weekend with their friends at an undisclosed city and hotel.

For today, that means that Ethan and I get to have Naomi and Aiden here for the night.  Their fathers are busy with their younger siblings and probably with some of the kid friends too, but we’ll be shared this weekend; so Naomi and Aiden will get some time with their fathers too.  That birthday surprise was given at breakfast, so while we got ready for school; the Moms involved in the plan got ready to meet up and head out on their trip once the kids were at school and the husbands were off to work – or already at work for some.  We had a good day at school.  The weather is warming again, so playing outside after school was an option that also kept us busy while Dad finished up his work day at the office.  Aunt Leanne didn’t let month-end get in the way of her weekend with the girls, but it did leave Dad and Mrs. Norton with more work to do for rental and house sale closings or moves.

Biking and playground fun at the park has kept us busy, but it wasn’t super-warm out either; so it’s nice to be home and getting warmed up again.  The sleepover plans were worked out before the biking; Aiden and Naomi have already picked up their overnight bags; and Ethan and I are just getting cleaned up and changed before Dad gets home with our pizzeria pizza dinner.  He’s a bit delayed for that, but it seems that the pizzeria is especially busy tonight for some reason that might be related to having extra fathers in charge of the dinner cooking tonight! ;^)

We’re doing our updates early because we’re going to have fun with our friends for the rest of the night and not play on our computers at all.  Dad will likely play video games with us for a while; and then we’ll watch a movie or two before falling asleep either with a sofa sleepover for Ethan and Naomi or just a normal sleepover in the lounge for Aiden and me.  I’ll write more on that with the next report, but it’s time for me to get going again; so that’s all for today.

The weekend away wasn’t a total surprise for Ethan and me, but we do hope that Mom has a lot of fun – and that we have a happy weekend with Dad and our friends too!

Ehlana will soon write the update you’ve just read to get here, so you’ll at least have the basics for today, but I’m going to skip adding my news of the day; get back to having fun; and write a double-update tomorrow.  This has been a good day so far; it’s sure to get better through the evening; and I think we’ll have an awesome weekend – even if that won’t be while on an amazing weekend getaway!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 30, 2020

Ehlana:

Game night at the Inn was the entertainment highlight of our day.  Our adventures at school and the lab or archives were a continuation of the rest of our week; and then we ended up doing some extra work or studying in the office tonight after our fun at the Inn so that we could all get to take most or all of the weekend off.  Even our best friends think that most of our work and studying is boring, but we’re expecting the fun level to go up over the next few days; so a school week of boring will be worth the effort.

That’s all I have, and it’s late; so I’m going to wrap this up and get some sleep so that I’ll be ready for our weekend adventures.

The gaming at the Inn was fun tonight; we worked or studied for pretty much the rest of our day; and now we’re past-ready to take the weekend off and have some fun.

Take yesterday; rinse; repeat; add an hour of time-phasing; cut back on the ‘real’ bedtime.  Ditto the need for sleep – which I’m moving on to right now.

We’re getting a lot done this week; the bonus lab or archives time is great; and now it’s time to get some rest before we do it all again tomorrow – though we’ll switch out the evening studying for game night at the Inn and some play time with our family and friends.

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 28, 2020

Ehlana:

January is definitely winding down quietly.  We had a fun morning with Mom and Dad; a good day at school; and I had a blast playing-working at the lab until dinnertime.  That meal was quick and easy; we worked or studied in the office after that; and I just finished some quality time with my Jacuzzi.  A time phase was involved in the work tonight, so it isn’t too-late, but feels that way for us; so I’m going to wrap this up and get some sleep now.

Ethan:

Our best friends would prefer more play time with us, but only because they usually get put to work by their parents if not hanging out with us instead.  That will actually be more-true as we get older – the work expected of them by their parents, but we really do want to get ahead of the work this week before we head into a busier February; so I’m happy to do that while our schedule is a bit lighter.  Putting in time-phased studying or work hours is tiring, though, so I need to crash and re-charge now; so I’m going to wrap this up and move on to some quality nap time.

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - January 27, 2020

Ehlana:

The top news for today is our future plans meeting tonight.  Our top discussions were about work that will be going on around town over the next few years that we’ll be helping out with through the family business; plans we have for projects around the world; and some brainstorming about the coronavirus outbreak that’s still, primarily, a problem in China.

I’ll start with talking about the virus; since it has been something I’ve been thinking about a lot since first hearing about it a few weeks ago.  It would be great if we could work on this problem at the lab, but even with our resources, getting our hands on samples of this strain of the coronavirus wouldn’t be easy; and would certainly draw attention we don’t want to have on us anytime soon.  Admitting that we can’t help to find a cure or vaccine is tough, but then that’s true for most of the problems in the world; so we can only do our best to help where we can.  We are doing that in this case – our help is just in other areas; including using our charities to help out in China and elsewhere.

When it comes to other projects we’re doing through the family business; I like the ongoing jobs that Cassie continues to set up for her college friends.  Most of those plans will lead to more in the future; and we’re not just doing that for interpreters; since we’ll have need of economists, engineers, and others; so there can be great opportunities for any of Cassie’s friends that are interested in those jobs.  As for here at home; I’ll again mention that the new shopping galleria plans will be a favorite for me – and every girl in town, and while that is still in the early planning stages; I’ll also love the extra visits we’ll get to have with the Malloys and Proctors because Uncle Blain and Terry will need to visit regularly to work on the galleria designs and project planning.

Mom will have the usual report from the meeting; so I won’t go over everything.  The rest of our day was fairly-average.  We had a good day at school; played at the lab and archives after that; and were home in time for dinner and that meeting.  Ethan and I multi-tasked some studying; Mom did a Magi lesson with us after the meeting – and after our guests headed home; and now it’s time to crash and get some sleep.

Ethan and I want to do some extra work at the lab and archives this week, but that’s mostly because the weather forecast is for warmer temperatures on the weekend; so we’ll work now and play later.  That’s all for tonight; so I’m out of here and off to nap time.
