Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - August 6, 2019

Ethan:

I’ve been taking over our journal with most of the news lately; so I’m going to leave this one to Ehlana; and do some video gaming with Aiden now before we’re ready to sleep tonight – not that we’re afraid to sleep after a day of visiting ghost towns and hearing all of those ghost stories! ;^)

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

We really aren’t scared from our adventures today, and I don’t want to jinx us by commenting on the real concerns we do have thanks to Gwyneth Hathorne and her attack on Cassie and Michael; so I won’t go there.

As always, spending time together is the best part of our vacation; and we had a blast today.  We started our day with Tai Chi and breakfast; and then hopped into the van and car for the trip to Grass Valley.  Our nearest town neighbor for the week isn’t exactly a ghost town, but does have a lot of history and ghost stories.  We took in the sights, did a bit of shopping; and then headed on to our next stop of the day – Rough and Ready.  That was a shorter, but entertaining stop because the little settlement seceded from the United States only to rejoin after realizing that they no longer had reason to celebrate the Fourth of July as an independent country.

Why let a little thing like sovereignty get in the way of a party? ;^)

French Corral was next on the tour.  It’s really just a mining camp instead of a town, but a good place to visit to learn about the history of the gold mining history of the area; and then we moved on to Nevada City for the rest of the day.  We had lunch; went on a tour of the town; and visited the landmarks like the National Hotel.  Not a single ghost was to be found anywhere, but Ethan and Aiden offered to help out with that to have some fun with the other tourists; and Mom wouldn’t let them do that – even after Dad and Michael offered their support for the rare opportunity for Magi-powered fun that they could get away around a public actually hoping to see something extraordinary!  We eventually wrapped up our adventures with dinner in Nevada City; got back to the chalet in time for an evening swim; and then moved into the chalet to have the only movie night on our schedule for the week.

It has been a busy day, but we’re also adjusting to the time change, so while we headed for bed at a bit after eleven; Naomi and I are still going to stay awake for a while; watch YouTube music videos; and chat until we are ready to sleep.  I won’t comment on why the two married couples in the house might not be sleeping anytime soon either; though I can add that Naomi would be just as happy to spend the night cuddling with Ethan as she is with hanging out with me while we talk about our day and plans for the rest of the week.

That’s all I have for tonight, so I’ll wrap this up and continue the best friends’ chat time entertainment until we’re wound down enough to sleep.  I am wound up still too; so that might take a while.  Stay tuned – we still have a day dedicated to gold country history and another for white-water rafting coming up next; so the adventures are sure to get even better as we go along!

This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live from what is now my past!
