Ethan:
This has been another good day, but I don’t
have much news to report; so this will be a short update.
Ehlana and I were at the lab and archives
this morning; we did the picnic and play afternoon at the park with our friends
after that; and then wrapped up our day with a quiet dinner and evening at home
with the parents that included an easy meal and office work and studying before
our baths and bedtime.
That’s all for me; and I’m ready to get
some sleep – so I will.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Me too – so I’ll try to keep my side of
this update short too.
I worked on one of our cancer research
projects today – as usual, but while we didn’t have any major breakthroughs or
anything; I will mention that we like where we’re taking our research right now
– even when our experiments are a total fail like they were again today. We’re also not expecting to come up with a
cough candy cure for all cancers – though that’d be awesome if we could do
that! You won’t want me to get into the
details and drag this out; so let’s move on – and anyone interested in the
actual boring research details can look that up in the archives we’re keeping
for all lab work.
We only had a picnic for four when we
headed to the park, but other friends were having lunch there too; and Aiden was
badgered into sharing his Olde Bakery contributions to our lunch. That’s normal; and his Mom always sends
extras, but it is sometimes tempting to keep those goodies to ourselves –
especially when we follow up those meals or snack breaks with extreme exercise. The boys had the most fun with the trail
riding and bike tricks; the girls were happiest when we were swimming and
cooling off in the river; and I’ll get back to you in another four or five
years and let you know whether those sentiments flip – or at least become
more-equal – as the boys begin to appreciate girls in swimsuits more than they
do now. Ethan and I didn’t need to be
first to head home, but we did that when Aiden needed to be at the bakery and
with his family for the rest of the day; and Naomi went on to her home from
ours soon after stopping in for a visit with Mom that included ice cream
treats.
Ethan and I helped out with some chores
after Naomi left; we didn’t need to do much for the easy-dinner cooking; and
then we had that meal in the back yard once Dad was home before cleaning up and
heading into the office to work for a couple of hours. We studied; Mom did a Magi lesson with us;
and then we took Silkie for a bedtime walk that included two front porch visits
and a loop that took us across the river by the lab and back home across the
Quarry Road Bridge. Silkie loved the
extra-long walk; played with her toys while Ethan and I had our baths; and now
she’s in bed with me because it’s apparently my turn – though Silkie doesn’t
really seem to keep track of that very seriously.
Finally, I don’t have any news for Cassie
and Michael tonight. They were still
playing on-campus when we packed up our computers for the night. There’s no doubt that they’re having fun, and
that’s likely even better for them this year now that they have so many friends
compared to last year when they hadn’t met anyone yet. The one off-set to that for them will be the
activities their friends will have scheduled through their residential halls –
or teams and other groups that they’re involved with, but Cassie does have
other off-campus friends now too; so she’s likely adding in visits with her
summer school friends too.
I’ll stop speculating on that, since we
will get those details soon-enough anyway.
I really am ready to sleep now too; so that’s all for tonight.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
