Ethan:
We’re having an early bedtime so that we’ll
still get lots of sleep by the time we get up early to see Dad off on his trip
to the city. Our top adventure of the
day was the afternoon canoe ride that Ehlana and I went on with Naomi, Aiden,
some of our cousins, their brother and sister, and a handful of parents –
including Mom. Dad took the alone time
opportunity to get more of his weekend work done; and that helped make it
possible for him to wrap up his work early this evening too – even if he missed
out on the paddling up the river fun. We
did not try to make it to the whirlpool today, but did have a turning point
swim break and snacks before coming home again; and we really did have a lot of
fun with that couple of hours of play time.
The start to our day was quiet with Tai Chi
for four by the river. Breakfast was an
easy meal with fruits, bakery treats, and not much work; and then we had a good
morning at church and Sunday school.
Lunch was quick and easy; Dad helped out with getting the extra canoes
in the river; and then he got to work in the office. I’ve already covered the canoeing; Ehlana,
Naomi, Aiden, and I were on kid control duty after that adventure until
dinnertime; and we took our younger cousins, siblings, and some friends to the
park while the parents had work to do with the canoes and gear and then with a
barbeque dinner at Uncle Adams and Aunt Leanne’s for the gang we’d been playing
with and the parents that had been stuck working too. That was another blast of fun; we
collectively helped with the post-dinner clean-up; and then split up and headed
to our own homes for the night.
Yes, Naomi shared a goodnight hug and kiss
with me; and we got razzed about it by too-many people.
Note to all of the Magi reading this sooner
or later – we don’t care about any of that; we’re eight; and think that it’s
okay to show that we love each other.
Maybe if more kids did that; there’d be a lot less kid and teen drama in
the world!
Moving along, Dad finished up his work and
packed for his trip after we got home; he and Mom went with us to take Silkie
for a bedtime walk; and we fit in a bedtime chat with Cassie and Michael
too. They’re having an early night ahead
of their first day of classes tomorrow, but I don’t want to think about that;
since our countdown to school is really on now too with just a bit over two
weeks to go. Sure, other schools are
starting back this week or next too, so we have that advantage here, but we do
still have as many school days – we just get fewer long weekends and other days
off than the kids and teens get in other school districts around the country.
For now, we’ll just be glad that we get the
long summer breaks; and hope that doesn’t change at least between now and when
we move on to the college level.
That’s all I have for tonight. Ehlana and I had baths again before bedtime
and the exercise and outdoor fun has me tired out; so I’m ready to get some
sleep.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
That’s a very good report, Ethan – and you
even included a bit of news about Cassie along with the fun the rest of us got
to have after Naomi needed to share that goodnight hug and kiss with you! I’ll only add that Cassie, Michael, and their
friends had fun again today; and they’re ready to get started on the work
tomorrow – even if they may be ready for that with wide-varying levels of
enthusiasm.
I don’t have anything else to add, and we
will be up early for Dad’s departure for the city; so I’m going to crash and
get some sleep now too.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
