Ethan:
This update is all Ehlana’s – and I’m not
just writing that because she beat me to her report tonight to make sure that
happened! ;^)
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our favorite
Moms!
Ethan and I had Mom open our gifts before
Tai Chi; we were by the river early and didn’t have any extra exercise buddies;
and then Dad cooked breakfast while Mom and I got to play dress-up – including extra
time on our hair. The food choices were
Mom’s favorites, but that’s okay with Ethan and me; since we haven’t met many
foods that we don’t like. Our friends
think we’re weird for that, since ‘normal’ kids our age are apparently supposed
to be picky eaters, but we just think that’s funny; since those same friends
love to eat just about any kind of fast food regardless of how bad it is for
them.
This is not a day for fast food rants; so
let’s move on – and be glad that we didn’t have those sorts of meals today
while celebrating our mothers!
Moving along, we eventually got to church;
our Moms were celebrated in the usual way – which doesn’t include the short
service that the Dads get to have on their day; and Ethan and I were part of
the Sunday school classes Mother’s Day medley before we were sent off to Sunday
school.
I’ll pause here for what might sound like a
bit of a rant; but isn’t really meant to be one – just a few observations.
First, while mothers are an important part
of many bible stories; it says something that most of those stories involve
fairly-terrible sacrifices. Maybe that’s
entirely because nobody wrote about blissfully happy, uneventful lives back
then – or even all that often now; but here’s a news flash for you – every Mom
makes sacrifices for their kids! That
includes the Moms that don’t have any major drama; and have great, life-long
relationships with their kids.
Stop laughing – those mothers do exist! ;^)
That brings me to the next point – that my
Mom isn’t lucky-enough to be one of those mothers. Yes, we’re happy, but she’s had a lot of that
awful sort of drama in her life too.
Ethan and I still have a lot of reading to do in the archives, but
trouble with the Dark Magi is very common for Magi and Magi Masters of the
Light; and we think that our Mom is amazing for being able to deal with all of
her challenges and still be so happy and full of love. That, by the way, is common in bible stories
about Moms, but while that’s a statement about our ability to overcome the
worst of situations; I’d really love to see a day when we can have the love and
happiness without so much of the awful things that happen in the world.
We are going to try and help make that
happen; so stay tuned – for the next century or two. ;^)
Okay, moving along, after church, we got
ready for a Mother’s Day picnic at the park; had fun with that; some of us took
the Moms for a canoe ride; there was more play time at the park or elsewhere;
and then we eventually went to the Inn for the late buffet so that our favorite
store-working Moms could join us for that last bit of food and fun. Mom has the rest of the night off; and is
enjoying more Jacuzzi time with a good book and old drink. Dad’s getting ready for his week in the city;
and I’ve been soaking in my Jacuzzi too.
I’m multi-tasking this report to get it done ahead of Ethan because he’s
walking the dog and possibly doing part of that walk with Naomi; since I think
she was setting that up before we left the Inn.
I’m going to get out of the tub soon and get to sleep early so that I
can be awake to see Dad off to the city in the morning.
That’s all I have for tonight. We’ve had an amazing Mother’s Day with lots
of family and friends fun; and now we only have five days to go until Cassie
will be home – for a couple of weeks. We
won’t be as busy as Cassie will be with her final exams, but between school,
baseball, and work at the lab; we’ll manage to keep busy while Dad’s away and
we wait for both of them to get home again.
Oh yeah – and I love my Jacuzzi. Maybe I can stay and soak for just a few more
minutes. ;^)

from what is now my past!
