Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 31, 2019

Ethan:

We’re having a good day; it’s getting better; and I’ll finish this update tomorrow because we’re having a major change in plans tonight that I need to get involved with again – including an added camping night for the guys in the back yard while Ehlana and the girls have an indoor sleepover and take over the second and third floors of our house.

Stay turned – there’s sure to be a lot to write about tomorrow!

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I’ll do the same – a double update tomorrow.  The girls’ sleepover plans started a lot sooner, but now that there will be a gang of guys here tonight – even if they’re outdoors; the rest of our day and evening is sure to be crazy, busy, and a lot of fun.

I don’t want to miss any of the entertainment; so I’m out of here and back to the real world too.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 30, 2019

Ethan:

There has been some news today and a lot of fun, but I’ll leave this report to Ehlana; call it a night; and go get some sleep.

Ehlana:

Congratulations, Rebecca and Lucas!

They got engaged overnight, and the girls in town are very impressed; since Lucas knew that this is the fifth anniversary of his first date with Rebecca – a fact that Cassie reminded us about this morning after getting that news from Michael ahead of Tai Chi.  That anniversary falls on a Saturday next year thanks to the leap year; so we’re predicting a late-May wedding for them too.

While that was an awesome way to start the day, it kept getting better for us when the Carringtons came over to our house in time for Tai Chi – and then they stayed for breakfast.  All of that put us in a great mood for school – though we were a bit rushed to get there – or to work or daycare for the rest of our family; and Ethan and I helped out with that by getting Zack to school while Cassie took care of taking Brianna to KidZone and Dad and Aunt Leanne went to the office.  We had fun at school – but not as much fun as Cassie got to have thanks to a pizzeria lunch with the parents and younger cousins followed by a play afternoon at the park with Brianna and Faith.  We did get in on that fun thanks to meeting up with them at the Emporium for ice cream treats; Ethan and I had to get a bit of homework out of the way with our friends at home; and then we went to the park with Cassie and our cousins to play there until dinnertime.

Cassie got a break from kid control for a while before dinner, but while she was getting tired by then, she still spent time with us during dinner and then at the Inn for game night.  That was another blast of fun with a good turnout now that we’re getting close to the end of the ‘season’ before we’ll be taking the summer off.  When we went home from the Inn, Cassie stayed for a while to help with the clean-up and then go with Michael for a visit with Rebecca and Lucas at the pizzeria.  We did a lesson with Mom and some studying, but have come to bed and I’m waiting for a bedtime chat with Cassie.  We’re having an early night ahead of our last weekend with her before she heads back to school on Sunday.  Cassie will likely do some work on the family business or some reading ahead for her classes next week, but at least she’ll start that early and still get to sleep in decent time tonight.

My lab time is suffering this week, but the trade-off for the play time with Cassie is worth it; and I’ll be able to get back to work there next week – or at worst; in a couple of weeks once we’re out for summer holidays.

Yes, I might be the only kid in town looking forward to working all summer – Ethan included. ;^)

We’re going to shoot for an awesome weekend, though, so I’m going to wrap this up; have that bedtime chat with Cassie soon; and then get some sleep too.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 29, 2019

Ethan:

We’re half-way through the short school week; and it’s been another good day.  Our morning was quieter without Cassie and Michael; our school time was quieter as we got past the holiday weekend and into the last modules of the school year before we wrap up with final tests and exams.  Ehlana and I ended up going out to play with our friends after school; Cassie and Michael got home again in time for dinner; and then they went to the park to play with us after dinner while Mom and Dad were busy with their ball practice.  They moved on to the pizzeria after that while we went home with Mom and Dad; and have been spending time with Rowen, Tim, and any other friends that went there too to hang out with them for a couple of hours.  Mom and Dad got to work in the office for a while; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then Ehlana and I were sent to bed by way of tub or Jacuzzi because we needed to get clean again.

That’s all I have; I’m ready to get some sleep now; so I’ll do that starting right now.

I love my Jacuzzi! ;^)

Ethan has the news of the day covered, but there is one bit of news we’ve skipped this week – the team names and sponsors news is out for this season – which starts next weekend.  Ethan is likely ignoring this because he’s now a member of the Bakery Brontos – the slowest dino in the league for the boys!  Naomi and I are much happier to be with the Pizza Panthers; while Mom and Dad get our pick for best team name in the family – The Blizzard.  There’s probably some sort of statement being made about the themes for team names this year – or someone just has a warped sense of humor.

Then again; maybe the parents just didn’t want to be named after extinct dinosaurs or predator animals. ;^)

Okay, that’s all for me because I want to get back to enjoying my Jacuzzi time.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 28, 2019

Ethan:

It’s girls’ night for baseball; so I’ll leave this report to Ehlana.

Ehlana:

We had a quiet morning at home while Cassie headed for her townhouse and college for a couple of days.  School was good too, with holiday weekend gossip a highlight for a lot of teens and kids.  With baseball on my schedule, I didn’t get to have much lab time after school, but Ethan and I went there; and he stayed late in the archives while I moved on to baseball – and then had leftovers dinner-for-one after getting home at about the same time that I got back from the park.  Add in studying, a Magi lesson, and another soak in my Jacuzzi for me; and that’s all I have for our news of the day.

Cassie and Michael had a safe trip; she picked up her books and supplies for the summer session; and they ended up having dinner with their neighbors – mostly because the ribs that Michael grilled were better than what their favorite neighbors had planned after getting home from work.

Well, those ribs were sure to be better than what we had for dinner too, but that’s a bit far to travel for a meal; so we’ll survive on the holiday weekend leftovers.

That is it for tonight, and I’m ready to get some sleep; so I’m out of here and off to dreamland.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - May 27, 2019

Ethan:

Mother Nature was in the mood to commemorate Memorial Day with her tears – quite a few of them.  While that always seems appropriate; rain does mess up the picnic-at-the-park plan.  The school is the back-up location, and we needed that today; but let’s cover the news of the day in order.

Tai Chi by the river for six was a nice way to start the day – and it hadn’t started to rain yet as we enjoyed that quiet bit of fun and then had breakfast for five while Michael helped his parents and we all got ready for the parade and picnic around that morning meal.  We met up with Grandma and Grandpa for the parade; it was solemn and stately; and then the short service at the park memorialized our hometown heroes and veterans.  We were getting a bit of rain by then, but it was still little-more than a sprinkle; so we still had our usual family walk-around and story time about our own veterans going all the way back to the beginning of our town.  I’ve read all of those stories in the archives; and many of them were recorded fairly-close to the time they happened – though Mom has also had as many of the older Magi as possible add their oral histories too; and they are, as far as I can tell, quite accurate.

It was raining harder by the time we got home, so we loaded up our picnic supplies and donations; headed to the school; and then the picnic and play time was a crowded, chaotic blast of food and fun.  There was a bit of a break in the weather, but everything was still very wet outside; so most people stayed indoors or only went out for walks or to watch the crazier neighbors as they played football or got wet and muddy in other ways.  There was also a basketball game in the gym that entertained quite a few people; and then the picnic wrapped up earlier than normal.  That was entirely because most visitors wanted to hit the road early and head for their homes; since the rain was going to make for a tougher drive.  That worked out for Ehlana and me, since it gave us a chance to go and play at the lab – especially after Cassie decided that she was going to spend the night at Michael’s house after helping out with a fairly-major clean-up of the school.  Cassie and Michael are heading out to their townhouse in the morning anyway, so this is her last chance to spend any time with Jacob and Miranda before she heads back to school on Sunday; so we can’t complain about sharing her tonight – especially when Dad needed to work in the office anyway.

Mom drove us over to the lab after we went home first, unpacked; and took care of a few chores.  She ended up staying and playing with Ehlana while I played in the archives; we stayed late; and then had a late dinner with Dad – which worked out for him too; since he got his work done without the rest of us in the way.  Add in bath or Jacuzzi time after we cleaned up from dinner and took care of more chores; and that’s all I have for today.  We’re back to school tomorrow; Cassie will be away for the next two days; and I’ll predict that Ehlana will have us spend extra time at the lab – if we can work that out around baseball and anything else we have on the go.  I’ll let you know how that goes, but I’m ready to get some sleep now – so I will.

Ethan – out!

Ethan has the news of the day covered.  I also don’t want to get into a Memorial Day commentary; so I guess that’s all I have for today since there’s no need to just repeat Ethan’s report.

I still love my Jacuzzi! ;^)
