Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 2, 2023

Ethan, Ehlana, Naomi, and Aiden:

Happy 13th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

This update is coming to you from Cassie and Michael’s house; we’re giving Mom and Dad a kid-free night; and getting the co-ed sofa sleepover is an awesome bonus!  Cassie and Michael are downstairs and busy with an international video conference call as we’re winding down toward nap time, but we’ve had fun with them pretty much since we were set free from school through to when they needed to go and get ready for that blast of work-fun.

Our day began with Tai Chi by the river that Cassie and Michael joined us for; they stayed for an anniversary breakfast; and ended up finishing the clean-up that we didn’t get done before needing to head for school.  ‘We’ did not include Naomi and Aiden this morning, and Naomi was busy with her own classes during our academic adventures, but we had fun together when we could at lunch and breaks; and had a pretty good day at school as we started new modules in most of our classes – as usual for the start of October.

The weather was great again today, and while the hot and sunny bonuses we’ve had so far this fall have been great; we need to keep enjoying them right now because it is going to cool down into the weekend.  Thanks to the warm, though, Cassie and Michael were able to host an outdoor anniversary dinner for Mom and Dad; we helped out after school while also getting to have a bit of back yard play time and even a short swim in the river.  The barbeque dinner was great; the Olde Bakery cakes and ice cream desserts were awesome; and the clean-up wasn’t horrible thanks to the extensive use of recyclables instead of dishes and cutlery that would have needed to be washed.  There was still enough work – including getting the tables and chair put away or returned to other homes, but then that was the end of the party; and Mom and Dad were among the first to be sent on their way.  No details of the rest of their night are wanted or needed by their kids; so let’s not go there!  As for the rest of our evening, we went for a walk with Silkie; had some music fun; and had a chat while not really watching anything on television.  We have music videos playing on the big screen now, but the volume is down so we don’t get in the way of the work downstairs; and we really are just enjoying the cuddle and chat time while winding down toward nap time.  We’ve had another really awesome day, but we’re also ready for a break from daily celebrations – even when we aren’t in on all of them; since even our normal schedule is very busy right now!  We’ve already missed out on one after-school biking and play time with our friends; we’ll miss the next two due to school band and a studio session; and then it is going to start to cool down and take at least some of the fun options away – like river swims.  The girls want me to phrase that as missing out on girls in swimsuits for Aiden and me, but since they are joking about that; I’ll point out that we’d be okay with them wearing swimsuits without the swimming if they really want to do that for us! ;^)

For at least two of us, that seems like a very happy thought to end this update with; so we’re out of here!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
