Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 3rd Anniversary, Kyle and Erin Landry!
We haven’t been involved in the anniversary celebrations today, but a few reports have come our way through Landry and Green family connections; there was a special dinner; and the happy couple is also getting a kid-free night from their nine-month-old son, Lyle. Before we get to our news of the day; let’s back up to the rest of our story from yesterday.
While some of our favorite people were away from home, our adventures really got fun once we met up with Naomi and Aiden at Naomi’s house. We joined the large gang of kids and teens at the park, and while we biked the trails too; watching the post-festival tear-down and clean-up. As always, it is watching the midway rides being packed up that most of our friends want to witness, and some teens do get hired to help, but we’re still at least a couple of years away from being eligible for those jobs; and Aiden and I will not be interested in doing that at all. Don’t take that to be sexist by not including Ehlana and Naomi – they are not interested in ever doing that kind of work. There are some teen girls that have been helping out at the festival midway, but they are definitely exceptions to the norm – though that is mostly because the ‘farm’ teens are too-busy with their usual work to help out at the park too.
Moving along, we had fun with our friends until we needed to be back at Naomi’s house to help with making dinner. The fun continued as we did that with Naomi’s Dad and didn’t have Zack and Eli there to cause any trouble; and then we managed to enjoy that meal after Naomi’s Mom, Zack, and Eli got home – despite the attempts from Zack and Eli to have their kind of fun with pranks and food games. They avoided most of the post-dinner clean-up thanks to a messy prank that got them kicked out of the kitchen, but then they weren’t too-bad after that while some Halloween-themed ‘work’ that included costumes, decorations, and pumpkin carving. We had fun with that for a couple of hours; and then we moved on to watch the ‘newer’ Hocus Pocus movie. Zack and Eli needed to try and mess with that wind down toward bedtime and managed to annoy the rest of us, but we enjoyed the movie anyway; and then we moved on to our co-ed sofa sleepover. That wasn’t Zack and Eli free either, but Naomi’s parents didn’t let that go on for long; and we didn’t stay up too-late either because we were tired by then and ready for some quality cuddle-and-sleep time.
That brings us up to this morning, and we started the day with Tai Chi by the river that Brianna and Faith joined us for; breakfast was normal school-day fare; and then we went on to have a good day at school. While we were busy with our academic adventures, Mom and Aunt Leanne and Uncle Adam got home from the city – though Uncle Adam came home right after breakfast while Mom and Aunt Leanne did a bit of supply shopping that was mostly for bulk frozen or fresh foods before picking up a last fast food fix for lunch and coming home. We also need to mention that Grandma and Grandpa hit the road early this morning for their annual migration to Arizona; and they will be there with their favorite Proctor and Rice clan grandparents. We’ll miss them, but are also used to their winter escapes; and are glad that they can do that when it isn’t an option for a lot of our favorite seniors.
Cassie and Michael are next for our travelers’ update. They are in Georgetown, Guyana today, and after a travel day that didn’t end until the wee hours of this morning; they’ve gotten right to work today. We’ll leave the business details up to them to document, and if the future readers of our archives are interested in those details; those sections of the archives are likely available to you too! We were interested in the location on the coast and the climate that is definitely summer-like with highs in the nineties. They got a bit of afternoon rain today, but that seems to be a norm for the area where afternoon showers or a thunderstorm move through and are gone again with great weather for the rest of the day. We can’t really complain about the weather here at home today when it has been nice and near-seventy for the high, but we’re still a bit jealous and wish that we could be there for the sightseeing parts of Cassie’s and Michael’s adventures!
While that can’t happen, we had fun at school with some bonus outdoor time; and then Ehlana and I headed for the lab after our school band practice and a quick after-school chat with Mom. She joined us at the lab too and brought a picnic dinner, and while we had that meal in Ehlana’s lab; Mom spent most of the time with me in the archives because she loves me better! ;^)
Seriously, Mom prefers books over beakers, and since I made that joke; the truth is that Mom uniquely loves all of her kids – and might love her only future daughter-in-law the best because she gets to give her back to her parents most nights!
Ehlana is currently having fun passing that joke on to Naomi; and I’ll likely get teased about that a lot and possibly for years to come. While they have fun with that, I’ll move on to mentioning that Mom multi-tasked a Magi lesson with me while Ehlana used her talents for some of her lab work. We packed up and came home at nine-thirty; baht or Jacuzzi time was needed next; and that pretty much brings us up to now. Our day hasn’t been travel or celebration-level fun, but we have had an awesome day; we got a lot done; and now we’re ready to get some sleep – so we will; starting right now.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
