Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 10, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

The top news for our day is that we’ve finished the recording side of our Christmas album!  It took until around ten o’clock to get there, but that was partly-due to having our school band practice first before we could head over to the studio.  Sophia and Aaron joined us for more violin work on one of the songs and the Pizzeria pizza dinner; Dad was one of the parents with us for the evening; and Mom left after dinner because she had a Magi council meeting at Cassie and Michael’s house – the last ahead of their trip to South America.  We were happy to have the musical play time instead, but that meeting went pretty well too; and the council is slowly getting used to the plans that Cassie and Michael have for their parts in the Ascension of the Light.

Our day began with a chilly Tai Chi workout by the river; we had a standard school-day breakfast; and then our academic adventures included lessons that were related to the fall festival – though the math of thrill rides probably shouldn’t count even if some science is involved with that kind of lesson too!  For the record, most of the girls did not appreciate Miles’ contributions to the discussion in that lesson; since none of them were interested in calculating the variable speed of barf or the measurable loss of human mass due to getting sick on those rides!  It wasn’t as warm today for the high, but we still missed out on the after-school biking while at band practice – as well as watching some of the park set-up for the festival; since the rides are arriving and being set up.  We still had fun with the school band; and then our recording session was definitely a highlight of our day.  We’re going to end up with fourteen songs for the Christmas album; and we are sure that we’ll be happy with the final versions of the songs and videos by the time they are edited and mixed as needed.  It will be ready by early-November, and thanks to family and friends; we basically have enough pre-orders to pay for the recording sessions.  We’ll have more on that in a few weeks, but let’s move on.

We finished up the recording by ten; packed up and headed for our homes; and then Ehlana and I had a bedtime chat with Mom and Dad that was mostly about getting Mom’s report from the council meeting.  While we are tempted to save the news that is going to affect us directly; we aren’t going to do that this time and will just report that the council has approved allowing Sophia and Aaron to officially find out about us – and Naomi and Aiden.  They’re going to start training with us soon too; so our group Magi lessons are going to be more fun for all of us!  We’ll keep you posted on that story as it happens; and thank Cassie and Michael for returning the favors that include when we convinced the council to let Cassie and Michael know about each other after they started dating when our age! ;^)

Moving along again, Mom did a short Magi lesson with us, but we didn’t work in the office too.  The bedtime twin chat and computing has kept us busy; since there is a lot going on around the world.  The new round of fighting that has started up in Israel is the top story in the news, and what is happening on both sides of that conflict is horrible, but we don’t want to comment on that – or more-specifically; we don’t want to pick and choose one awful conflict when there is a lot of horrible things happening in a lot of places around the world.  This is just another example for why we can’t focus on all of the bad and simply do what we can to help through our family businesses and charities.  We also want to mention that this new story that everyone is paying attention to hasn’t led to an end to all other conflicts – those stories are just being ignored by comparison.

Let’s stop right now before we end up having a written rant that we don’t want to have or inflict on future readers anyway.  We will continue to wish that everyone in the world could be as happy as we are and do what we can to make that happen even when that is in small ways; so stay tuned to see how that goes for us while we call it a night and get some sleep starting right now!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
