Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 1st Anniversary, Marc and Gretchen!
We offered our best wishes while at church this morning, but that was our only involvement in the anniversary fun. Cassie and Michael attended the dinner party at the Inn with their friends and the rest of Marc and Gretchen’s families and friends, but we didn’t go to the Inn for dinner either; and were happy to stay home for a quiet meal and evening of work and a Magi lesson with Mom and Dad. Before we get to the rest of the news from today; let’s back up to our babysitting adventures last night.
The Pizzeria pizza and sides dinner got the fun off to an entertaining start, and while we enjoyed most of the dinnertime adventures, Zack, Eli, and some recruits took their games and pranks too far; and we had to deal with that – and with the post-dinner mess. We could write quite a few stories about Zack and Eli from last night, but let’s just admit that we had our hands full; and earned our pay for the babysitting. That’s especially-true for Aiden and me; since we ended up staying awake for most of the night too while only partially keeping them out of trouble and playing video games most of the night too. I probably shouldn’t minimize what Ehlana and Naomi had to do as well, since they had more kids and babies to take care of more of the time while we tried to control the chaos, but they did get more sleep than we did; and were definitely doing better this morning. The four of us really missed the chance for a co-ed sleepover too, so while we love Zack and Eli; we’d had enough of them too by the time we were able to give them back to their parents this morning! The girls also had some fun with everything from music play time to mini-makeovers; so Brianna, Faith, and the rest of the girls were very happy this morning – as well as better-rested.
That brings us to today, and thanks to amazing weather; we spent a fair bit of time outdoors. Tai Chi by the river was with extra exercise buddies; breakfast and getting ready for church was exhausting when we were already tired; and then we had a good morning at church and Sunday school where none of us will admit it if we had short naps either in the sanctuary or our classrooms! Naomi and Aiden came home with us for lunch; we did a band practice after that with Sophia and Aaron coming over to work with us again; and then we all grabbed bikes and hit the trails for the afternoon. We had some cameo visits along the way with family and friends, but mostly did our own thing because four of us wanted the break from younger kids. The river is cooling down into the fall, but we still went for one cool-down swim because it topped out in the low-nineties today; and we had a snack break out on the dock that included frozen treats while we dried off from our swim.
All of our friends headed out ahead of dinnertime because they had other plans with their families. We’ve already mentioned that we’ve had a quiet night with Mom and Dad since then, and while we got some family business work done too, we used a time phase for that; and headed up to our rooms fairly-early because we are all tired tonight. Bath or Jacuzzi time was still needed, so Ehlana and I are clean and ready for bed; so we’re keeping our twin chat short and only doing the minimum of computer checks too. One thing that we should mention, though, is that we are doing something that Cassie used to do when a tween and teen too – we’re keeping up with the latest shows and sports news without really watching much television so that we can keep up with that sort of gossip at school and with our friends. Honestly, that can be a bit tedious, but we do need to keep up appearances; and it really doesn’t take all that long to get updates – especially when fan recaps and commentary is widely available on social media and streaming platforms. Don’t worry about us spending too much time on that; since we can multi-task that sort of thing easily with more-productive activities.
Moving along, that is enough for this report. We really do need to catch up on our sleep; so we’re out of here and going to do that right now!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
