Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - September 15, 2023

Naomi, Ethan, Ehlana, and Aiden:

Yes, I am taking over this journal for the night; and Ethan does not have a problem with the cuddling that he is busy with instead!

Ehlana and I decided that a full report requires a girl’s touch and perspective – and that is entirely because of the teen and tween drama stories from school and the football game tonight.  Let’s get right to that, since the girls in the room think that those stories are far more-important than the score from the football game!  Okay, our team won a close game tonight, and we had fun being there with our families and friends, but most of the entertainment happened off the field!

The football game was the news of the day at school, but again, that had everything to do with game-date news; since this was the first home game since we’ve been back to school.  Those date plans included our own, and we don’t want to skip that news, but our next-favorite story is from Sophia and Aaron; and they were with us for a lot of the game because we also got to collectively hang out with Cassie and Michael.  There were other stories that weren’t exactly dating news, but a group of our friends were at the game tonight with equal numbers of guys and girls; and we’re expecting to have more couples in our classes by the fall festival and Halloween.  The teen couples are mostly set for the juniors and seniors, but there has been some new pairings since the summer break for the Grade Nine and Ten teens; and the drama is sometimes caused by hard feelings from recent break-ups.  We don’t want to mention specific stories for that, but will mention that this can be a bigger problem in small towns when the changes can affect life-long friendships.

On the happier side of the teen drama, we love getting to report that Danielle Sheldon was at the game and on a date with Will Carter.  They’ve liked each other for a long time, but it seems that Danielle’s move up to Grade Nine has made dating Will a more-serious option for them.  Let’s also mention that two of our friends might not be happy with this news – even if they aren’t quite ready to admit how they feel about each other.  Yes, that’s funny on several levels – including the fact that their story is at least similar to their older brother and sister!

Aiden is having some fun with this as I’m writing it down, so for the record; I would not have had a problem with Eli dating a younger sister if Ethan had one – if they were a match.  Aiden should also be glad that Ehlana’s picked him; since I’d have been happy to be her sister-in-law in more than one way!  Yes, I love Ehlana too-much to wish that fate on her – though I’m only joking about that; since I do expect that my little brother will be a great guy once he grows up a bit.  If that happens, Aiden might need to worry about Eli around his own little sister!

Yes, that is a bit funny, Aiden, but let’s move on; since I won’t even joke about that with Hailey, Leah, or any of the other girls their age.  Zack and Eli are definitely at least as scary and Miles and Joshua – maybe worse now that our friends are on the verge of crossing over!

That’s enough of the tween or teen drama for this report.  While we had fun with that at school today, we did also have classes and added fun that included bonus outdoor time thanks to another great weather day.  I have a lot of regular moments when I wish that I was in the same class with Ethan – and Ehlana and Aiden, but we aren’t going to change that; and we did get some good news today because they were all invited to join the school band.  As they’ve likely mentioned in the past, that isn’t usual, but it does happen now and then with kids that have learned band instruments before starting Grade Seven; and we’re just happy that we’ll all be able to be together for the Christmas parades and concerts.  Practices start next week; so we’ll have that extra time together – along with the extra practices and recording sessions we’ll be doing over the next month or so.

While our school day was good, the fun really kicked up after being set free for the weekend.  We checked in with parents; dropped off our gear; grabbed our bikes; and met up here at Ethan’s and Ehlana’s house.  We went for a ride on the trails and at the park; a cool-down swim followed the park play time; and then the family-and-friends’ dinner was at the Carrington’s house tonight.  Cassie and Michael were there for that meal along with all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins and a small gang of friends; we had a blast with all of that – including getting to handle kid control instead of the cooking and cleaning.  We also took some of those kids to the school and football game while the clean-up was happening; and kept them entertained for some or all of the game with some parent and grandparent support.  Not all of the adults came to the game too, since a chick flick movie and other entertainment were options, but we still had more than half of the dinner gang; and there was a big turnout for the game from all of our neighbors too.

We’ve already mentioned that our team won tonight.  It was a close, well-fought battle – according to the guys, and while Ehlana and I don’t actually need to take their word for that; let’s pretend that we did and move on!  For us, the top news after the game includes our own co-ed sleepover plans for tonight and the sleepover that Brianna and Faith are doing with Cassie and Michael.  Our cousins are very happy to get their turn for a night with Cassie and Michael, and now Aiden is making fun of me again for claiming them as my cousins too.  It isn’t official yet, but they will be our cousins, Aiden; so get used to it!  They are definitely having fun tonight, but then so are we; and we do need to share Cassie and Michael even more right now ahead of their trip to South America.  We don’t need to even think about the countdown to that trip; so we won’t go there and it is time to wrap this up soon anyway.

Since getting home, we’ve had a visit with my Mom and Dad-to-be; shower or Jacuzzi time was required; and we’ve mostly been watching music videos while chatting and dealing with some bedtime computing – including this update.  The music videos are all Christmas themed, and that might seem weird, but we’re trying to finalize the song list for our second Christmas album; so it works for us.  We’ve also decided to recruit Cassie and Michael for a song or two; and we want Sophia and Aaron to help us out with some violin parts to maybe as many as four of the songs we like.  We’ll keep you posted on that project as it comes together, but that’s enough for me; since I really want to move on to helping Ethan out with our cuddle time! ;^)

Stay tuned, read on, or whatever you want to do with reading these journals in our future and I’ll do my part to make sure that Ethan is very happy by the time he gets around to writing the next update!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
