Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - September 9, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

We’re on our own tonight after a long, busy chores day and quiet evening here with Mom and Dad; so let’s get to this double update before we get too-relaxed and need to crash and nap!

Our last school day of the week was good with extra outdoor time thanks to the great weather, but the fun really got going once we got to Cassie and Michael’s house – along with the major gang of cousins and friends that gathered there – more than forty of us by the time we hit the trails for our bike ride.  We rode the trail around town first; Cassie gave the guys a lesson on extreme bike tricks while we were at the park – tricks that most of them will never master too; and some of had some playground fun at the park too before we headed back to Cassie and Michael’s house for a swim and ice cream treats.  We had more play time in the back yard too, but Cassie and Michael also moved on to cook dinner; and had that ready by the time that Mom and Dad caught up with us after Dad was finished at the office for the week.  Most of our friends and cousins had left for their homes or elsewhere by then, but in addition to Naomi and Aiden; Sophia and Aaron were added to the sleepover guest list and were with us for dinner too.  We had that meal out on the back porch, and our top conversation stories ranged from Rebecca’s baby news and talking music to the work and school update and the latest travel plans for Cassie and Michael.

Our evening entertainment after the clean-up included a walk with Silkie and some front porch or back yard visits along the way.  Silkie stayed with us for the night when we said goodnight to Mom and Dad; and we don’t need to write about what they did with the kid – and dog – free night!  We had fun with Cassie, Michael, and our friends; we all watched a first movie; and then the tweens in the house watched a second movie before getting around to the co-ed sleepover part of our adventure!  Naomi and I had our sleepover in a ‘nest’ on the floor while Sophia and Aaron got our usual sofa, but the story is that our friends joined in on the co-ed part of our fun last night.  We all had fun with that; and then the start to our day was awesome too.

Sophia and Aaron joined us by the river for a Tai Chi lesson with Cassie and Michael; we had a pancakes and bacon breakfast; and then it was time to split up so that we could all get started on chores or other work at home or elsewhere.  Naomi and Aiden teamed up with us for some of our collective chores, and we had a couple of cameo moments with Cassie and Michael during the day, but we mostly did yard work at five homes with a few breaks including lunch with Mom and Dad; and we didn’t get finished with that work until around six-thirty.  Naomi and Aiden were with their own families by then; we had an easy-meal with Mom and Dad; took care of the clean-up; and then we did a Magi lesson and some work in the office before Mom sent us upstairs for bath or Jacuzzi time.

No, we were not too-fragrant by then – she just didn’t want us to have another late night – especially when we used a time phase to get more of the family business work done and help Dad with his weekend homework too.  The bath or Jacuzzi breaks were welcome and we feel better now that we’re clean, but that part of our day wasn’t newsworthy.  We should add that the football team lost their away game on Friday, but that isn’t a surprise; and our team will be middle of the pack or a bit lower again this season.  I don’t really want to go there, since some of our friends are already talking about changing that by the time we hit Grade Nine; and I am not going to get on that bandwagon until I get dragged on – probably during the summer I’ll be eligible to try out for the team!

We don’t really have anything to add for our actual weekend adventures so far, but before we move on; let’s do a deeper music update because we’re thinking about that after our conversations about that yesterday.  Sophia and Aaron are into music too, and specifically, they are talented fiddlers.  It was suggested that they could add their talents to our band – at least for some songs if not joining us.  We’ve been asked about doing another album too; so we’re thinking about combining those ideas and putting together another Christmas album.  We’d like to do something with Cassie and Michael too, and we should do a Mulan song with background videos that Cassie and Michael shot while in China, but if we’re going to make all of that happen; we’ll need to get working on it soon – including booking the studio sessions.  We’ll keep you posted on that, but we’ll go ahead and predict that we will be doing those projects – and that’ll likely lead to more invitations for dances and other events for the band.

Okay, that’s enough for tonight.  We don’t have anything major planned for tomorrow, but we could use a rest-up day; so maybe we’ll do just that!  Stay tuned or read on in our future; and we’ll get some sleep soon and be ready for whatever comes our way tomorrow!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
