Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 4, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

The weather has been awesome again today, but we were good and worked at the lab or archives after school instead of going out to play with our friends.  We had fun anyway, and a good day at school, but the top news of the day for the kids and teens was the first arrivals of the midway rides for the fall festival.  The crews working on setting up those rides are enjoying the great weather, since setting up rides in the rain or cold is not fun; and the spectators enjoy the show more too – though too-many kids can be a problem when they get in the way.  We got an update on that work on our way home from the lab, and with a decent forecast for the next two days; we expect that everything will be ready to go early – including the charity booths and various pavilions.

We also did a bike-by of Cassie and Michael’s new house, and since we haven’t included an update in our journals in weeks; we will report that the frame, rough outer walls, and roof are up; the brick and stone work, siding, windows, and doors are being worked on now; and we know that some of the basic plumbing, electricity, and built-in systems are being installed – including the heating/cooling units and extras like central vacuum.  The outside work on the house will be done by month-end; and then the construction crews will do most of the interior work during the winter – as usual for many of the houses that have been built in the new section of town.  We are thinking about that house more this week while it is mid-term exam time for our favorite collegians; and we’re excited about the countdown to having them home again next May!

Moving along, we were home in time for dinner; Naomi and Aiden came over for a band practice that was all about getting ready for the fall festival competition; and then Mom did a Magi lesson with all of us before we took Silkie for a walk while seeing our friends to their homes; and then we worked in the office with Mom and Dad for more than another hour before coming up to our rooms for the night.  The music fun was a highlight of our day, and we should mention that we are not using Halloween songs for the competition – we’ve picked movie songs with the harmonies that are what really makes our band stand out!  We’ll have more on that during the festival; and hope that we’ll be as good as we think we are! ;^)

This has been a long, busy day, and we’re ready to call it a night now; so we will.  Stay tuned; since we really hope that our week will just keep getting better and that the fall festival will be a best-ever-so-far!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
