Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 2, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 12th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Congratulations to the Karla, Brock, and the Benton and Cassidy families – it’s a boy!

Mom and Dad’s special day is the top story for our day-so-far, but Bradley Benton’s birth tops the list for most of our neighbors – especially since he decided that it was time to arrive before his Mom could finish getting ready for church; Uncle Mark and Aunt Deborah took care of his delivery; and missing today’s sermon was not really an added bonus for all involved! ;^)

While the baby news was fun and exciting by the time we got to church, our day began with anniversary gift-giving; Tai Chi by the river; and the breakfast that Ehlana and I cooked for Mom and Dad.  We took care of the clean-up; got ready for church; and then the service and Sunday school time felt a bit muted because of the missing neighbors that were at the clinic instead.  The first Sunday in October didn’t include any changes in lesson themes for Sunday school, but that’s normal for our church; since we usually have one of the extended teaching modules in September and October; and then get into themes for Thanksgiving and Christmas in November and December.

Lunch included extra guests, but was low-key, and while it would have been nice for Dad to get a day off, that wasn’t an option for him; so he worked in the office this afternoon while Ehlana and I had a long music practice with Naomi and Aiden and some outdoor biking fun for an hour or so that just ended.  We’re currently getting ready for the anniversary dinner at the Inn and packing overnight bags for spending the night at Naomi’s house.  Mom and Dad are getting a kid-free night as one of our gifts; and we will not be commenting on what they’ll do with that break – though that was definitely a motivating factor for Dad when it came to getting his weekend work done!

The rest of our news from the dinner and sleepover can wait for the next for our next report, and we do need to get going soon; so that’s all for today.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
