Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 13, 2022

Ethan and Ehlana:

This has been a cooler day, but still sunny and decent for mid-October; so we can’t complain about another sudden change back to normal for our area.  We’ve had a good day from Tai Chi by the river through to now; so let’s get to the news of the day.

That won’t take long for our academic adventures, since we had an uneventful, standard school day.  We followed that up with a band practice; Mom did a late-afternoon Magi lesson with us; and then Naomi and Aiden stayed for an easy-dinner before we headed to the Inn for game night.  Our family had a good night playing those games with our friends and neighbors.  Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne won the senior title; Ehlana and Aiden won the junior title; and we all had a lot of fun.

Since getting home, we did a bit of work in the office; came up to the third floor when ordered up here by Mom while she and Dad are continuing to work late; and now we’re winding down toward nap time with the usual bedtime twin chat and computer checks.  Having happy days here at home are a blessing for us, but we really do need to at least comment on world events now and then; so we’re going there tonight before going to get some sleep.  Our ongoing hopes for better leadership from the world’s politicians not only isn’t happening; the crazy is escalating.  The war in Ukraine is worsening; tensions are being ratcheted up with China; North Korea is back in the news with a new round of missile tests; and those are just three of many ongoing problems without even getting into a handful of natural disasters affecting different parts of the world.

The costs of these ongoing political and economic blunders are still only beginning, and with no signs at all of any serious diplomacy; we are worried about the safety and well-being of everyone that will be hurt by everything from the actual fighting to the growing energy and food shortages.  Mom has help with the family business efforts to help with some of those problems, but we can only make a small fraction of a difference for what is needed – especially when the crises continue to worsen instead of improve.

Okay, that’s enough for tonight.  We still hope and pray for better; worry that some of the political positions are getting so entrenched that stepping back from the brink might be impossible short of an event shocking-enough to bring everyone back to their senses.  That isn’t a happy thought to take into dreamland, but it is definitely time to move on for us now; so we’ll do that – and try to find some happy thoughts to offset the worries while we rest up ahead of our mid-October weekend.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
