Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 8, 2020

Happy 19th Birthday, Cassie!

Ehlana:

This report will be out of order, but let’s start with the bit of news we have for Cassie’s birthday.

We had a breakfast chat with her – and with Michael, Rowen, and Tim; and they were awake fairly-early because the girls needed to head for the hotel spa for a morning of pampering ahead of their study afternoon, birthday dinner, and party plans for the rest of the day.  Our gifts had been sent with Michael at the Christmas break, so Cassie opened them while we had our chat – and morning meals; and then that was pretty much the end of the birthday fun for us today while she and Rowen got ready to head out for their play and study day.  Compared to spa pampering and parties; our day has been quiet – and that ended up being true last night too.

Since our last report, our dinner-and-movie night was low-key because the parents were tired out after a busy work week.  Dinner was slowed down due to flu and cold-related delays at the clinic, but that just left the kids with bonus gaming time in the lounge before the last few parents arrived after work.  I guess that Zack was having a lazy day too, since he was pretty good during that meal and even while we watched the movie that Brianna and Faith picked out for us.  Our guests headed for their homes soon-after that show; Mom and Dad had four junior helpers for the clean-up; and then they opted for some office work while we headed upstairs to get ready for bed and then get started on the movie-and-sleepover plans we had for the rest of the night.

Ethan fell asleep about a half-hour into that first movie; the rest of us didn’t last until it ended; and we had fun with the sofa sleepover for three of us while Aiden camped – as usual – in a sleeping bag on the floor right next to my side of the sectional sofa.  Tai Chi was fun this morning; I’ve already covered the birthday vid-chat and meal; and then it was time for weekend chores.  That was here at home for Ethan and me; Naomi and Aiden were busy with their own families until after lunch; and then we met up for an afternoon of biking and hang-out time.  It wasn’t all that warm out today, but we biked the trail around town anyway – along with a bit of park-trail riding too; and then we came home and hung out in the lounge for another hour or so until Naomi and Aiden needed to leave again to spend the rest of the day with their families.

Mom and Dad only had two kids for dinner; we went with an easy-meal and clean-up; and then we ended up doing some work and studying in the office – including a Magi lesson with all four of us having some bonus, Magi-powered fun.  It was bath or Jacuzzi time after that; I had a nice long soak in my tub; and now I’m cuddled in bed with Silkie and ready to get some sleep.  I guess that our day didn’t end up being quite as exciting as I expected, but we still had fun; so we’ll have to save up the extra excitement for Valentine’s Day instead!

Okay, we’re kids, so that won’t be as exciting as it will be for older couples, but we do still get to have fun – even if that’ll be kid-rated entertainment.

That’s all I have for tonight; so I’m out of here and off to dreamland starting right now.

Ethan:

I love co-ed sofa sleepovers! ;^)

That was the highlight of my day – or night, and while we had that little blast of fun with Cassie’s birthday vid-chat; I’m sure that Ehlana and Mom will have that news covered in their journals; and I’m too-young to want to read about Cassie’s birthday news for the rest of the day.  She is, after all, still a newlywed; so it’s a certainty that her first birthday as a married woman will wrap up with the kind of fun that won’t be kid-rated.  I’ll also try not to think about how happy Cassie and Michael were this morning; since that suggested that her birthday started off with an alternate entertainment to Tai Chi!

I really do not want to go to sleep with those thoughts in my mind, so I’m going to move on; do some ‘boring’ archives reading; and hope that I crash and nap to the mental musings that usually go along with my Magi history musings.

May the Magi Force be with you!
