Ehlana:
It’s been a good day, but uneventful here
at home, school, or the lab; so I don’t have any news to report. Valentine’s Day wasn’t the only story of the
day at school, but the themed lessons and crafts were a big part of our day;
and the kids our age don’t really care about who won which awards at the Oscars
ceremony. Ethan and I had fun at the lab
or archives after school; and then it was another dinner-and-study-or-work
night at home after that – including our ‘real’ doctoral studies and a Magi
lesson. Sure, most kids would love to be
able to practice and use Magi abilities if they had them, and we do love
getting to do that too, but it’s also an everyday thing that we don’t really
think about as being newsworthy-enough to write about every day in our
journals. Mom does record and track our
progress, though, so if you’re really interested in those details; they are
available elsewhere in the archives for anyone with that level of access.
While I’m thinking about that, I will
mention that Mom’s training program has been developing since Gwyneth’s
Halloween visit to town – mostly related to having more kids and teens train
together now that most junior Magi know so many more Magi than was previously
permitted by the Magi Council. Training
together with other kids is becoming the norm instead of the exception; and we’re
very happy about that; since it is something that was meant to happen – and will
be needed as we head toward the Ascension of the Light.
Okay, that’s all I have, and I’m ready to
get some sleep; so I’m out of here and moving on to my nap time.
This is Ehlana Proctor; live from the
hidden home of the Magi of the Light!

Ethan:
I feel as though I should be writing more
in my journals than I have been for most weekdays lately, but maybe my life is
just too-boring right now; since I don’t really have anything that happened
today that seems interesting-enough for future readers to find entertaining or
informative. My archives work won’t
really help out with that for anyone either – though my plan is to make it
easier for everyone to get the information they need about any topic
more-easily than is possible now. I may
eventually get everything in the archives read and memorized, but that isn’t
possible for most Magi; so they’ll be happy to be able to get specific
information without needing to read entire books that are rarely dedicated to
single topics – especially in the most-ancient books and scrolls from thousands
of years ago.
Some kids – like Zack – don’t appreciate
the archives and the boring details that go along with our Magi lessons, but
this is important for all of us. Think
of that information in the same way that we think about other, normal, everyday
things. We’re taught how to do
everything – even the simplest things that we don’t ever think about at all,
but imagine how much tougher it would be able to do those things if you had to
learn it all by trial-and-error – or invent the tools we take for granted in
our lives – including things like language, math, and science. At the Magi or Magi Master level; trying to
do that would be very dangerous – and has been in the past; since there are
records of self-taught Magi.
I don’t want to get into a long commentary
on this – especially since it’s still boring; so my point is simply that it
would suck to spend years learning to do ‘new’ Magi things only to find out
that your ideas or solutions had been discovered by others hundreds or
thousands of years ago. That has
happened in the past too; which is one reason I have for trying to change that
for all future Magi. Ehlana can relate;
since she wouldn’t want to spend years in the lab ‘finding’ cures or vaccines
that already exist. She’s really focused
on her work right now, and that’s likely in-part because of the coronavirus
outbreak in China and elsewhere, but while I know she’d like to get involved;
that really still isn’t an option for our lab; and likely won’t be unless the
situation changes and we can find a way to help without drawing unwanted
attention to our lab and town.
Well, for having nothing to write about, I’ve
managed to drag this out for quite a while, so I’ll stop now; call it a night;
and get some sleep.
May the Magi Force be with you!
