Ethan:
Our school and lab play plan was changed
due to extra-nice weather today – and the wetter weather in the forecast. We had extra outdoor play time at school;
biked and played at the park after we were set free for a couple of hours; and
then we had an early dinner before going over to the lab for some evening
entertainment. Mom went with us for
that; we kept busy for a handful of time-phased hours; and then came home again
once Mom was tired out from doing that time phase around an entire building –
which she could only do because we only had Magi in the house for that extra
play time.
That also extended our day, so I’m tired
too; and that’s all I have for tonight.
Time to get some sleep!
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Silkie and I are ready to get some sleep
too, but before I do that – since Silkie is already cuddled in and napping; I’ll
add a couple of notes to Ethan’s report.
The play time with our friends wasn’t
really an option. Naomi insisted; and we
caved in because we love her a lot. I
also wanted to mention that the end of tax season is welcomed by everyone
around town that either has business related to accounting or has to deal with
complicated taxes for their businesses or farms. I guess it’s an issue at the lab too, but the
work was done a while ago; we have brilliant people in charge of that; and it
only sucks to send the payments to the government when we know how much of it
is miss-spent.
Finally, I’m going to make another
exception for writing about world news – and I’m a bit surprised that Ethan
didn’t include anything about it; since he’s the future archivist and
historian.
Maybe he’s just in silent mourning.
The big, world-news story around here today
was the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. Magi Masters have a special appreciation for
history and heritage; so we understand the sense of loss that so many are
feeling because of the damage that has been done to such an iconic place. Our Magi archives have reports that
documented other significant events and losses dating back millennia –
including hundreds of examples that are lost to ‘normal’ history; and only live
on in our archives. I don’t know whether
the cathedral will – or can – be restored, and probably shouldn’t comment
anyway; since doing that would certainly be unbelievably-expensive; and I’d
have a tough time justifying spending that kind of money on a building when so
many people could be helped in more-productive ways.
I don’t want to write a rant about that
sort of thing, but can’t resist at least mention my feelings about some reports
that we’ve heard about today – particularly in France. The apparent ease of ‘finding’ or pledging
hundreds of millions of dollars by political leaders and the ultra-rich just
seems especially-hypocritical considering the protests that have been going on
in France for months now. Those leaders
and billionaires apparently care more about things – like old buildings – than they
do about people.
I’m not claiming to know what’s best for
anyone in this case, and a few hundred million dollars won’t solve all of the
problems we have in the world – or we’d have done that already with our own
family business. It ought to be okay for
me to mention that the Magi of the Light do not have grand cathedrals or
palaces all over the world for reasons beyond the obvious need to protect
ourselves and our secrets from those of the Dark.
Okay, that did turn into a bit of a rant
after all; so I’ll just stop now; call it a night; and get some sleep.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
