Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 30, 2019

Ethan:

It’s the last day of April; so it’s appropriate that we’re getting rain – though we expect more rain tomorrow instead of May flowers suddenly blooming everywhere! ;^)

That’s also pretty much the best I can come up with for tonight; since this has been a rinse-and-repeat day – with the rain helping out with the rinse cycle.  We had a good day at school; fun at the lab since playing outside wasn’t an option anyway; and then dinner and a work or study evening has kept us dry since getting home – though we did get a bit damp between the lab and house.

It isn’t that late, since we used a time-phase for the evening, but we put in quite a few hours of work; so I’m ready to crash and get some rest.  This doesn’t sound like a very exciting end to the month, but we are closer to summer; so the fun level will eventually pick up again after the post-Easter lull.

For now, I’ll just call it a night; and get on with my nap time.

Ethan:

We’re winding down to the end of April; and it feels that way too; since we’ve had a quiet day – whether at school, the lab, or with our studying at home tonight.  I don’t really have any news to offer; so I’ll just wrap this up; and move on to do a big of bedtime reading until I’m ready to get some sleep.

Ditto that for me – except I’m going to read up on some of the lab reports and maybe do a bit of work on our research too – though that’ll only be digitally.

I’ll wait a few more years before I start sneaking down the back stairs and over to the lab for late-night research.  By then, if I get caught; they’ll just think that I’m sneaking out to make-out with Aiden by the river anyway; so I’ll be able to get away with it! ;^)

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 28, 2019

Ethan:

We’ve had a good day.  The highlight of the morning was Bryn Jennings’ introduction to our community at church; Ehlana and I had a play afternoon with Naomi, Aiden, and some of our friends; and then we’ve had a quiet evening at home with only a bit of work and studying; some television and cuddle time with Mom and Dad; and now an early bedtime.

Now it’s time to get to the sleeping part of my day; so I will.

Ehlana:

I’m ready to get some sleep too; so let’s just add a quick Cassie update; and then I’ll call it a night.

Cassie and Michael took Jaimie and Kaitlyn to Serena’s ballgame on Friday night; Jaimie had some bonus fun thanks to a guy that didn’t know she’s only thirteen until Cassie pointed that out in a ‘keep your hands off of my cousin’ sort of way.  On Saturday, they did some shopping in the morning; Jaimie and Kaitlyn went along for the afternoon study session; they went out for dinner and a movie; and then wrapped up their day with some girl chat time after Michael and Tim were sent home for the night.  They went to church this morning; Michael and Cassie took Jaimie and Kaitlyn half-way home; and met Uncle Blaine, Aunt Alison, and Jayden for lunch and a visit before they needed to head back to college for a bonus study session that was all about prepping for their final exams.

There may or may not be a make-up roommate swap and sleepover because they couldn’t do that last night while Cassie and Rowen had company, but I won’t go there; since I’m too-young; and don’t want to take my thoughts anywhere that might distract me from sleeping.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 27, 2019

Ethan:

Let’s start this update with the news that I spent a fair bit of time cuddling with Naomi last night while we watched our movies.  We had fun with that; and will be glad when we get past this stage where everyone wants to make fun of us – whether because they think we’re adorable or, in my case, because girls are supposed to be gross at my age; and I’m getting germs or some other infection on a regular basis from spending so much time with Ehlana and Naomi.

All that matters for us is that we had a good night; more fun this morning with Tai Chi by the river and breakfast on the sunroom; and then Naomi and Aiden eventually were able to escape while Ehlana and I were drafted for a spring clean-up chores day.  While we worked for a lot of the day, we had fun with Mom and Dad; and they set us free with time to play with our friends on our bikes and at the park for a while before dinner – and we went with pizzeria pizza for that meal.  There was more play time and a walk with Silkie after dinner; and now we’re having a quiet night at home and early bedtime because we’re all tired after staying up late last night and working and playing hard today.

I’ve finished the bath I needed to get cleaned up, but Ehlana’s still soaking in her Jacuzzi; so I’m just going to call it a night and get to sleep.

Ehlana:

Ethan loves Jacuzzis too – he’s just too cool to admit that; and rarely uses my tub.  I’m so glad that he doesn’t take that same sort of stand with Naomi – especially since she’d likely have a problem with it if he tried to act like the other guys our age! ;^)

He has covered the news highlights of the day, and I don’t have any updates from Cassie yet tonight; so I’ll just wrap this up and get back to my Jacuzzi time.

Our day may not have been as exciting as Cassie’s while she’s entertaining our cousins, but we’ve still had fun; and even messy yard chores can make for happy memories if you’re sharing the work with people you love.

Speaking of love – have I mentioned that I love my Jacuzzi lately?

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - April 26, 2019

Ethan:

We’re through to the weekend; had a good day at school; fun with our friends at the park after that; and now we’re about to get to the movies part of our sleepover plans with Naomi and Aiden; so that’s all I have for tonight.

Ehlana has a bit more; but I’ll leave that to her.

Ehlana:

Welcome to Witch Falls, Bryn Jennings!

We only got to see her for a minute today because she’s in high demand by her family and their friends; and we didn’t want to get in the way.  Bryn was born at a bit after six o’clock this morning after a bit more than nine hours of labor for Isabelle; so her parents are very tired – and so are Uncle Adam and Aunt Deborah after being awake for more than a day.  Isabelle and Bryn are doing well; and have already gone home after spending most of the day at the clinic.

While we are having movie night here with Naomi and Aiden; the dinner and a movie night for our family was cancelled because of worn-out parents; and we’ve heard that Zack is with Eli tonight and Brianna is doing a sleepover with Faith so that Uncle Adam can catch up on his sleep.  I will not comment on whether Aunt Leanne will let him do that when they have a kid-free night. ;^)

Moving along, I can also report that Cassie and Michael sprung their surprise on Jaimie and Kaitlyn today.  Michael drove up to Granite Park to get them after finishing his only afternoon class.  He got there at about the same time that Jaimie and Kaitlyn were finished school; they were totally surprised because Aunt Alison hadn’t told them anything and had even packed their bags while they’d been at school so that they could load up and hit the road again.  Having Michael do the full drive was a change because he could do the entire drive before school was out; and they’ll have gotten to the college in time to have dinner with Cassie before going to watch one of Serena’s ballgames – though we don’t know that for sure; since we haven’t had an update.  I hope they have an awesome weekend; and will keep you posted on any fun news from our favorite collegians.

For now, that’s all I have too; and it’s time to get started on our first movie; so I’m going to wrap this up and get back to the real world again.
