Ehlana and Ethan:
Welcome to the family Gregory Denninger;
and congratulations to Tory, Kyle, and the Denninger, McEwan, and Johnson
clans!
As with his cousin’s birth a few days ago,
Gregory’s birth was the top news of the day; and the coronavirus babies stories
really will be family entertainment for years to come. While that’s fun; there are also issues that
need to be dealt with – with the biggest being the social isolation that is
being done to keep the newborns and their Moms safe. That means a very limited in-person contact
for everyone involved; and the best they can do to compensate for that is video
conferencing with the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins that would all
like to spend time with the babies but can’t do that yet. Missing out on those early chances for
bonding experiences with newborns is affecting people all over the world, but
it’s personal for us now; and that’s tough when the development over the first
year or two is so fast and important.
A detailed commentary on that topic might
be coming up in our journals, but not tonight; so let’s get to the news of the
day for our own adventures.
Our dinner, movie marathon, and cuddle time
with Naomi and Aiden was collectively-awesome; our parents and collegians
joined us for one movie; and we wrapped up our day with a co-ed sofa
sleepover. Compared to those warm and
fuzzy experiences, the near-freezing temperature this morning was not much fun –
though we still bundled up and went outside for Tai Chi by the river. The hot breakfast that followed helped to
warm us up again; and then we all had a very-chilly chores morning – though Naomi
and Aiden did that at their own homes; and Cassie and Michael spent a lot of
their time doing chores at his house. It
took time to start warming up, so that work wasn’t comfortable, but we had a
lot to get done – even though the upcoming holiday weekend won’t be a major
event anymore.
We stopped for a late lunch at around one o’clock;
the kids were set free for the rest of the day to play after that; while the
collegians switched to their exam studies for the rest of the day. The temperature topped out in the
mid-sixties, so we decided to go biking instead of canoeing when we met up with
Naomi and Aiden again. We biked the
trail around town; biked and played at the park for a few hours; and then
headed home in time for helping out with making dinner – at three homes; since
Naomi and Aiden are with their own families tonight. With the ongoing studying here at our house;
it’s been quiet around here tonight. We
went with early bath or Jacuzzi breaks to get cleaned up first; a music
practice kept us entertained for more than an hour; and we just finished
watching a movie in the lounge. We don’t
have any major plans for tomorrow, but we’ve also had enough fun for today; so
we’re going to call it a night and get some sleep.
More planning and decisions for the town
will be coming tomorrow, so life around here will start changing back toward
normal, but we’ll have more on that as we get the news, so flip the digital
pages to find out how that goes for us; and we’ll go get some rest and then
move on to enjoy the daily adventures in our here-and-now!
