Ehlana and Ethan:
With exams studying a priority for our
favorite collegians today; we don’t really have any personal news to
report. Our worship time was at home
again this morning; we stayed out of the way for the rest of the day – whether at
home or while we biked the trails or a couple of hours at the lab and
archives. We still had a good day – just
not one that was particularly-interesting or exciting.
As for the local coronavirus news; most
stores and businesses will be opened this week, and while we’ll have
restrictions on spacing and number of customers; everyone is working together
on that; and the only places that will still be seriously-affected every day
will be the Inn and Sheldon’s Pub.
Cutting their normal limits for customers will continue to be a strain
on their businesses, and they won’t need every employee back to work at first,
but this is still a step in the right direction; and we’ll continue to help
everyone that can’t get back to their regular jobs yet. We don’t plan on rushing out for major
shopping just because we can, but it will be nice to resume visits to the
Emporium for treats; and go to the Inn for occasional meals – even if that won’t
include the Sunday buffets quite yet.
On the entertainment side of life, the
campgrounds are opening, and while they’ll have limits for everything from
total campers to day-pass visitors and how many people can be in pools, lakes,
or doing each activity; we expect tourism to return very slowly; and that might
not be a problem for our visits to Quarry Lake at all. The Ridge River Ranch will be ramping up
trail rides too, but we haven’t actually booked any rides yet; since we haven’t
really worked on our family plans for the summer. We won’t be doing any major road trips
anytime soon, but then there still won’t be a lot of entertainment options in
our larger region anyway. Amusement
parks are going to need more time to open after losing the spring work season
for maintenance and building new rides or attractions; movie theaters will have
limits that we expect will be a problem for planning around for us; and most
parents around here won’t be interested in taking their kids or teens to the
city even once we can go to places like SportsFusion.
We’ll be happy if we can do more trips to
Quarry Lake or the ranch instead of trips to Crystal Springs, but we’ll keep
you posted on anything we do put on our schedule over the next couple of
weeks. Final exams for our collegians
are up first this week, though; so we’ll likely spend most of the next four or
five days staying out of their way while they’re busy.
That’s all we have for tonight. Cassie, Michael, and May are wrapping up
their studies now; the girls are going to take over the Jacuzzis in the house;
and one of us is going to get out of the way while Cassie and May take turns
having girl chats and tub time before bed.
Stay tuned for the latest news we’ll be living; since we really are
hoping for the best – and that the return to normal won’t cause any new
problems – like a major spike in new virus cases around the country – or anywhere
else where, at least for now, the worst may be behind us.
