Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 9, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jessica Warren!

Happy 23rd Birthday, Elliott Roberts!

After not getting much sleep last night, we still had fun this morning with a gang of exercise buddies for Tai Chi by the river.  Ehlana, Naomi, and the girls had more fun with breakfast and getting ready for church; and I won’t comment on what breakfast at our house with the guys was like; since a ‘no comment’ says everything!  We had a good morning at church and Sunday school; the camp clean-ups happened before and after a family lunch that Mom and Dad hosted; and then we had a fairly-quiet play afternoon that included biking, canoeing, park and back yard play, and a couple of swims that kept us entertained until it was time to get ready for the buffet dinner at the Inn.

Uncle Mark and Aunt Grace got home from their weekend away in time for dinner, and while we didn’t spend much time with them because we were with the kids for that meal.  Details of the best parts of their getaway are not required by the tweens either; and the smiles were enough for us to be sure that we’re right about that!  As always, the food at the Inn was amazing, but by the time we came home with Mom and Dad; we were ready to wind down toward a good night of sleep.  Mom still did a Magi lesson with us and bath or Jacuzzi time was needed, but we’re keeping the bedtime computing and twin chat to a minimum.  That’s also all we have for our personal news of the day, but before we wrap up and move on to dreamland; let’s do a minor family update because we haven’t done that in a while.

We’re thinking about that tonight after seeing Cassie and Michael juggle kid time with both of their families.  Closest to home for them are Jake’s and Rebecca’s kids, but that next generation is growing fast; and Violet, Dillon, Josiah, and Christina are only two of the next-closest group of couples with kids with connections to our family.  The number of Magi kids is changing too; and that leads to new challenges.  We don’t write about it very much here, but Mom has needed to be very-involved with the training for Mariah and Christopher Palmer, and while she’s teaching Josiah and Christina too; there is a lot that they just can’t teach to their Magi Master kids.  Cassie and Michael might get added to the mix of teachers too, but not yet; and Christopher is just coming up on three months old anyway; so it’ll be a while before he’ll need training that Mom and his parents can’t keep up with or without help.  That’s getting a bit away from where we were going with this little update, since we really just want to point out that the next generation of kids is going to be a time-sharing issue for Cassie and Michael; and that doesn’t even include the kids that their friends have had and will be having now that all of their hometown friends have returned from college.  From our perspective, that could be good for potential babysitting work over the next few years, but then we won’t be into that in the same way that some of our friends will be when we’ll have our own responsibilities and work at the lab and with the family business.  We should add that all of these kids are healthy, happy, and doing great.  That is important and unusual compared to the norm elsewhere in the country and world, but if you want to read more about that sort of thing; Uncle Adam and Cassie keep much better track of all things Magi and have been building a great little corner of the archives with their Magi project studies that include analysis of why both Magi and Latent kids are much-healthier than the norm.

It’s time for us to call it a night and catch up on our sleep; so that’s all for now.  We have a quieter week ahead for scheduled action, but with the cousins’ hometown vacation coming up for the two weeks after that; we’ll be glad for the break – and the chance to spend some time at the lab and archives too.  While we look forward to that, read on – or don’t – whenever you’re doing that in our near or distant future!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
