Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 15, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Congratulations, Martin and Kimberly – you’re married!

Happy 19th Birthday, Lindsay Faulkner!

Let’s start with the baseball news; since that kept us busy for most of the day.  First up, Cassie didn’t get to have an awesome day helping out as guest coach for Mom and Aunt Leanne.  Don’t take that the wrong way, since the girls on her teams would have loved to get wins for her – that just didn’t end up happening.  First up, Brianna, Faith, and the Faeries lost their game against the Sprites by three runs.  We won’t suggest that Zack and Eli had problems today because of their prank-gone-bad yesterday, but they didn’t win either; and Michael was in on that loss while helping out with guest coaching duties.  Leah, Hailey, and the Diamonds managed to get the first win of the day for our family teams with the victory over the Emeralds; and we will mention that the Diamonds got all of the cheerleaders – which is why there will be jokes about the boys’ loss that really likely only happened because Zack and Eli didn’t play very seriously.

Cassie was back on-duty for Ehlana and Naomi’s ball game at noon, and Michael was in charge of getting our picnic lunch to the park – with some help from some of the goys – including Aiden and me.  We still had time to be at the game by noon, but the news for that game was that Sophia couldn’t play because of her still-sore ankle; and Jen couldn’t play for her team either.  Those challenges proved to motivate Caroline and the Scream team more than it did for the Hair Haunt, so despite an enthusiastic cheer squad; Ehlana and Naomi couldn’t help their team to get the win today – and they weren’t really disappointed because the win helped Jennifer a lot when she was still feeling pretty rough.  The girls on both teams and a small gang of families and friends did the ice cream celebration together after the game; and then Aiden and I were up next for our three o’clock ball game.

We are going to entirely credit our cheer squad for the win in our game against the Rockets!  Miles and Joshua might take credit in the wrong way too, since they motivated the girls to cheer against them, but then that ended up being true for all of the spectators because our cheer squad managed to get all of the spectators on our side of the diamond; so we were very motivated to get the big win for them!  That doesn’t mean that we tried to run it up on the Rockets, but we never let them get close either; and the eight-to-three victory was convincing!  We did, by the way, have Michael guest coaching us too; so that worked out for him too.  Two wins and three losses for the family teams wasn’t great, but then some of our favorite girls consider two of those losses as victories for other reasons anyway!

Moving along, we headed home after the game, and Cassie and Michael ended up with a larger gang for our second sleepover.  Leah and Hailey were added because they wanted to hang out with us; Sophia was added in-part because Michael had loved the extra time they’d spent together while she hadn’t been able to play baseball with Ehlana and Naomi; and Aaron White stayed with us after our ball game to have dinner with us and then we invited him to stay for the night too.  After a long, warm day outside, Cassie and Michael decided to go with Pizzeria pizza for dinner.  By the time it was ordered, picked up, and delivered; snack sides and drinks were ready to go too; and we all really enjoyed that meal – especially since we didn’t have any of the guys around that would have taken that opportunity for food and drinks competitions.  We are planning a quiet evening now that we’re past the clean-up, but this update is coming to you now because we might not be doing any computing later – especially if we have company straight through until whenever we crash and nap for the night.

We’ll let you know how that goes for us tomorrow sometime – and we’re not sure about the timing for that update either; since we’ll be at Jen’s birthday party and camping night.  It is time to get back to the fun with Cassie, Michael, and our cousins and friends, though, so that’s all for today – or not! ;^)

I skipped over the early-morning fun that started with Tai Chi by the river that was more-fun with Brianna and Faith around.  Breakfast needed to be rushed a bit because of that first ball game of the day, but we had fun with that too; and the guys took care of the clean-up so that the girls could get to the game warm-up on time.  We should also mention that part of our running around today included taking turns for quick runs to the house to take care of the dogs, but they were good all day; and are very well trained; so the only real risk of accidents happens when their humans mess up and leave them stuck indoors for too-long!

Now that is all for now; so we’re out of here!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
