Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - July 17, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jacob Jennings!

Our visiting cousins are at other homes tonight, and while we could have gotten in on one of those sleepovers; we’ve chosen a quiet work night with Mom and an early bedtime instead of another really late night with our cousins and friends!  We should start with the rest of the news from yesterday; so let’s do that.

Jen’s party was a hit, and she is happy about that – especially when it is her first co-ed party.  Her parents had lots of support for everything except the camping; and had teens to supervise the end of the campfire and the camping too.  While we are really glad that Jen loved everything about her special day, our personal highlights included having Sophia and Aaron together for their first date and the fun we had with Jayden that included the predictable jokes about him being a bonus gift for Jen!  Naomi and the Haunted Harmonies provided most of the campfire music that led to a fair bit of dancing too; and we did pretty well despite not doing a lot of practicing lately.  The birthday barbeque was great too, and while being at the party meant missing out on the family buffet dinner at the Inn that was set up for everyone getting home from the wedding or arriving for the annual cousins’ vacation; we think that the trade-off was fair!  Jen loved her gifts; we did all of the usual birthday activities around and during dinner, and while we weren’t directly in on the roasting for Jen; her family and closest friends both had fun with that and took it easy on her because she is still recovering and sore.  We should mention that Miles and Joshua were at the party, and while all is not totally back to normal; apologies were made and they will survive this latest mess-up.

We had fun last night and stayed up too-late, and while co-ed camping may have happened with one or more teen couple; that didn’t happen with us because we had trios in our girls’ and guys’ tents.  Since we really only managed to have naps, that still means that we spent a lot of time cuddling with our favorite partners; so we managed to survive the night anyway!  Being at Jen’s party meant that we didn’t get to see Dad while he was home between yesterday afternoon and when he went to the city for the week with Anna Marie; so we won’t get to see him in-person until Friday night.  We did meet up with Cassie and Michael for Tai Chi by the river this morning, though, and then our fun continued with the post-camping breakfast before we helped with packing up the campground and getting all of our gear home again.  That took a big chunk of the morning, but we did eventually get together with all of our cousins and spent some time chatting with them and catching up – including while we had a group lunch and into the afternoon while we had fun with biking, swimming, park play, and a visit with Cassie and Michael for most of us.  Brianna and Faith got extra support for their ball practice at four o’clock; we had more play time; and then Ehlana and I came home on our own to have dinner with Mom and wind down with our family business work evening.  Mom did a Magi lesson with us too; bath or Jacuzzi time followed the work that was partially time-phased; and now we’re ready to get a full night of rest.  We did a vid-chat with Dad tonight too, but he has extra work to do tonight too after his weekend away; so we didn’t talk for long before letting him get back to it.  For the record, when he works with Anna Marie, they do that in public places – not hotel rooms, and while it is ridiculous to even think about anything romantic going on between them; they won’t risk potential damage to their reputations just as Dad has never done that with Aunt Angela or any other women.

That’s pretty much it for this report, but before we wrap it up, I want to mention the weather.  We haven’t done that very much lately because it has mostly been awesome, but I also haven’t written about the bits of rain and thunderstorms we’ve had because none of that weather has gotten in the way of our fun.  There have been more-serious storms in the region, but we’ve missed the worst of all of them here in our little town – and no; that isn’t just because we’re so small that not even Mother Nature can find us! ;^)

We’re grateful for all of the awesome in our lives; and we have no reason to complain about any of the tiny blips in our near-perfect weather.  That’s true pretty much for everything else in our lives too, and that might be why we’re so tired right now after all of the fun; so it is time for us to call it a night and rest up for the next round of summer holiday fun!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
