Ethan and Ehlana:
We’re writing this update thanks to a thunderstorm that arrived in-time to cancel the three o’clock ball games – including the one that Aiden and I were supposed to be playing right now. The games are now booked for Monday afternoon; and that works out thanks to the four-day weekend. As for the rest of our news so far; let’s get to it.
Last night, we had fun with everyone at dinner and into the evening; and then we eventually wrapped up our day with the Malloys when we were ready to wind down toward nap time. Valerie and Marcus were tired by then, so that wasn’t a challenge for us; Valerie stayed with Ehlana and Silkie; and Marcus ended up in my room for the night.
Tai Chi by the river was quiet this morning; we had a quick breakfast; and then it was time to get started on the baseball fun with Brianna’s game. While Faith is away, Brianna wasn’t as fired up as usual, but she still led her team to the win over Palmer’s Pixies; so the Faeries’ players and coach and fans were very happy. We had some breaks to go along with the baseball action – including some biking and swim time in the river, but the baseball continued with games at both the school and park. Zack, Eli, Sebastian, and the Pirates surprised us with a decisive nine-to-two win over the Bandits. Yes, they can all play the game, but Zack and Eli in particular are usually too-busy entertaining the spectators in sometimes-bad ways to play to win. Caleb is likely the most-serious player on their team too, so with him away for the weekend; it really is amazing that Zack and Eli managed to focus on playing well and leading the way to that victory! Leah and Hailey led their team to a win too; so our ‘family’ teams were undefeated this morning.
Aiden and I would have liked to continue that trend with our team, but while we’ll wait until Monday to try and do that; Ehlana, Naomi, and the Hair Haunt added another win over the Grocery Ghouls during their noon-time game that was also our lunchtime entertainment. Having picnics at the park seemed to be a trend too; so they also had the largest group of spectators – and the biggest cheer squad too. It was getting pretty hot by then, so the rain was welcomed – though it is sure to add some humidity to the mix once the storm passes and the sun comes out again. I would have liked to get that ball game out of the way today, but the majority of our family doesn’t have a problem with the early end to the all-day baseball fun. Some of us got rained on too as the storm rolled into town, but more than half of our gang was already at one of a handful of homes because they were taking a break between the games anyway while hauling picnic and day camp gear to those homes. Cassie and Michael were among those groups; they have a handful of cousins and kids with them; and they are keeping those kids entertained in the house until it clears up again. We’ll be staying inside too, but it is quieter here – except for the pre-dinner cooking that is being started now while the adults in the house are stuck indoors anyway. We’re going to help with that for a while now; so that’s all we have for this report.
The rest of our plans for today might depend on the weather, so we’ll let you know how that turns out for us with the next update. Stay tuned for that; and we’ll get back to living those adventures! ;^)
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
