Ethan and Ehlana:
Our adventures today aren’t really newsworthy. We played at the lab or archives again this morning; we played with our friends this afternoon; and followed that up with the usual ball practices, Pizzeria pizza picnic dinner, and fun with our teams, family, and friends. Bath or Jacuzzi time was required once we got home; Mom did a Magi lesson after that; and we just finished a long music practice after deciding not to add in a work session in the lab. We’ll also mention that our afternoon fun included a bike-by of Cassie’s and Michael’s future home – though there isn’t anything to see yet beyond digging for the foundation.
While we’ve had a fun day, what we’d like to write about tonight is world news that we’ve stayed away from for too-long.
The pandemic seems to have officially moved on to the endemic stage now, but the effects and costs continue to drain resources and cause harm that we expect won’t be fully understood for years or even decades. The medical challenges continue with each new wave, and while the current variants are proving to be milder; it is equally-true that the vaccines aren’t protecting anyone nearly as well as hoped; and there are serious side-effects that are causing problems too. We don’t want to get into a commentary on that hornet’s nest of controversy; so we won’t go there at all. While we’re on the topic, though, we should note that our Magi-powered ‘vaccine’ is still fully-effective; and there still aren’t any Covid cases since we started that first round of vaccinations. Uncle Adam still continues them when needed; Mom or Aunt Deborah help out when needed; and we don’t worry about it anymore.
Moving on, there aren’t any changes for the good to report from the Ukraine war. None of the leaders involved seem to be seriously negotiating for peace; and too many people are dying for no good reason at all – and no, we don’t consider a power struggle among a bunch of rich narcissists over borders and resources to be a good reason to destroy the lives of millions of ‘normal’ people. While that mess continues, some of those leaders apparently aren’t happy with one war; and are trying their very best to start another one with China. Our analysis: dumb and dumber! Unlike our illustrious leader of the House of Representatives, our personal connections with China aren’t because someone once told us that we could dig a hole to China from the beach she was playing at as a child – explaining why she felt so close to Chinese people. That sort of ‘diplomacy’ is scary for us; and we’re having some tween-level doubts about our national leaders. Since I’m the archives expert-to-be, I’ll simply suggest that our leaders seriously need history lessons – and I know more about that right now because I’ve just spent some quality time taking a look at some relevant archives focused on China and Taiwan. It is doubtful that even our Magi knowledge of the Far East would help any politician even if I could do that since they apparently can’t even comprehend recent history or current realities. Provoking a war with Russia was stupid. Doing the same with China might be criminally-insane.
War is far from the only problems in the world – though the conflict in Ukraine is certainly causing problems elsewhere. We don’t want to turn this into a major rant; so let’s just mention that everyone involved in the family business is busier trying to help out wherever we can. Those efforts are never enough, but we can report on work that Ehlana is doing that continues to help. Yes, she spends most of her lab time working on medical cures for cancer and other diseases, she also continues to help out with developing better crops. This summer, our lab is working on better corn and rice; test crops are looking great; and Mom is looking into large-scale testing for the coming year – including getting that going in the southern hemisphere as those regions head into their spring planting season. Aunt Grace and Violet will co-ordinate, but it will be through dozens of our charity farming projects that are proving to be very effective at expanding our test crop developments.
Okay, that’s enough for tonight. Tomorrow will likely be another repeat of today – except with co-ed ball in the evening, and we want to be rested and ready for another lab morning; so we’re out of here and ready to head off to nap time soon.
Until next time, this little blast from your near or distant past is written for you with love from Ethan and Ehlana Proctor – twin junior Magi Masters of the Light!
