Ethan and Ehlana:
Congratulations, Paul and Vanessa Sparks – you’re married!
We didn’t have any involvement in that wedding, but only had a few hours of advanced notice for the surprise when Cassie ended up coming home with Michael today so that they could attend the ceremony at the church and then also get to meet Ryan for the first time and have some fun with Violet and Dillon too.
Our day began with Tai Chi by the river and breakfast with Mom and Dad, but then we moved on to a busy morning of baseball – starting with the two early games for Brianna, Zack, and their teams. We had to split up for those games; the girls in the family were with Brianna’s team; and the guys were at Zack’s game. That didn’t affect the outcome for either game, but that didn’t keep us from getting teased when the Pizza Pandas lost their season opener to the Grocery Grizzlies while Brianna and the Real Estate Royals bested Palmer’s Princesses by a score of six-to-four. Ehlana and Naomi didn’t get to have a break between those games and their own first game of the season, but Dad and I were a bit delayed getting to their game while helping Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne with the post-games visit to the Emporium for ice cream treats for their teams.
The Hair Harpies played against the Witch Falls Wasps today; Ehlana and Naomi led their team to the win even though they’re closer to the youngest players in their division; and we were there for all but one of the runs they either scored or were in on earning along the way to their nine-to-four victory.
Cassie and Michael got home in time to catch the last inning of that game; moved on to their first visit with Violet, Dillon, and Ryan; and then they had lunch with us before getting dressed up for the wedding. With baseball taking up our morning; we had chores to get to this afternoon, so we didn’t have as much fun as we might have on a hot, summer-like day, but the work needed to be done; and we don’t really mind helping out when Mom and Dad need us. We also got approval to set up a tent for a camping night with Naomi and Aiden; and did that after the lawn was cut and the rest of our chores were done by around four-thirty.
Since then, we’ve been able to spend a bit of time with Cassie, Michael, and the rest of our family; we hosted the family-and-friends barbeque dinner that included a small gang from Dillon’s family; and we just finished saying goodbye to Cassie and Michael. They needed to head back to their townhouse tonight; Cassie will be working during the trip there; and has more to get done for the start of the summer session – work that will keep her busy all day tomorrow too. Naomi and Aiden are currently getting overnight bags ready for our camping night; we’re going to have a little campfire starting at dusk; and we’ll likely have some guests for that part of our evening entertainment plans – especially if we have some music play time too. We are not going to have cousins or other friends with us for the camping too, but there might be other campers in back yards along the river; since we have at least a few cousins trying to get that set up for themselves with their parents. That could be an issue for us – especially if Zack and Eli are among those campers and try to mess with us later tonight, but we’ll let you know how that goes for us with the next report.
The only news we want to add tonight before getting back to our evening fun plans is that Grandpa Ben and Grandma Susannah have moved out of the Connor family home today – into a smaller home on Crystal Springs Ave. – behind and near their hardware store. We’re going to have new neighbors moving in over the next couple of weeks; and will offer our help to Jeffery and Ellen Connor – even if that will only be with kid control while they’re busy working on the house and then moving in. It still feels a bit strange to have next-generation families move into family homes on our street, but we’ll have fun with that too; and it is also fairly-entertaining to watch Dad and Aunt Leanne around some of the ‘kids’ that they grew up with as they become neighbors again while raising their own kids this time around! ;^)
Okay, that’s enough for tonight. We need to be ready when our friends get back, and they will be here soon; so, until next time...
