Ethan and Ehlana:
We’ve had a couple of awesome days, and can write about our adventures because we’re at home and on our own tonight while our best friends are with their own families. That might not be happening if not for the forecasted thunderstorms overnight, but we should catch up on our sleep now and then anyway; and the Seagers and Drapers also like to spend time with their eldest children too!
Let’s get on with our news starting from yesterday morning.
Our birthday adventures began with Tai Chi by the river and a special birthday breakfast. We did that non-update while getting ready for a day at Quarry Lake; and then we were on the way there by mid-morning – once our friends, family, and drivers were all at our place and ready to go. We took bikes along so that we could ride the trails at the campground as part of our fun, but started out with some swim time first before biking until close to lunchtime. There was more swimming to cool off before that meal; the picnic included opening our gifts; and then we spent the rest of our time at Quarry Lake having fun in and around the lakes and doing our favorite activities like the rock wall and zip line.
We needed to be home in time for ball practices; so our dinner was the usual pizzeria pizza picnic that we’ve been doing on Tuesdays during the two rounds of practices. That was busier this time because all of our friends were in on that blast of food fun too. Our ball practices were good, but it was hot too; so we went for a long swim break once we got home with our friends. Extra tents had been set up for us by then, so the friends that spent the night with us also needed to get their overnight bags and gear into those tents; we did the birthday cake thing after that; and then we had a campfire for the main evening entertainment. Naomi and Aiden helped us out with the musical entertainment for everyone that joined in for the campfire – including our neighbors; we had fun with that until eleven o’clock; and then we stayed up too-late hanging out in our tents and by the river with our friends. We also went ahead with our co-ed camping despite getting razzed by our friends, and while that is a change for us; Naomi has convinced us that we’ll survive blazing our own trail and not worrying about what anyone else thinks about it when we’re happiest when we’re together.
The co-ed cuddle time is just an awesome added bonus!
Moving along, we had a gang for breakfast, so Mom and Dad opted for an easy-meal with Olde Bakery treats, fruits, and cereals that managed to satisfy all of our friends. Tai Chi by the river preceded that meal, but we only had a couple of spectators from among the campers; and then needed to wake the rest of our friends. We had some work to do after breakfast – including cleaning up from that meal and packing up all of the tents; and then Mom set us free to play for the rest of the day. None of our friends needed to go home, so we had the full gang for most of our biking and park play adventures; we did a lot of swimming in the river; and some of us went on some short canoeing adventures too. Naomi and Aiden were the only friends to stay with us for an easy barbeque dinner; and then they helped us out with kid control while the parents were busy with their co-ed ball practices. We had fun with that, but our cousins and their friends finished tiring us out after two very busy days; and we were ready for some quality bath or Jacuzzi time once we got home from the park. Dad had work to do tonight, so he and Mom stayed home instead of going out to Sheldon’s with some of their friends; and it has been quiet around here tonight – especially compared to last night.
That pretty much takes us up to now, and we really are getting tired; so we’ll save any other news for our next report – including the mid-term exams update for Cassie that nobody should really need to read about to be sure that her perfect grades record will continue.
Our beds are calling to us, and we really are ready to crash and nap now; so, until next time...
