Today is obviously a busy day for special occasions around here, but let’s begin with the top news for our own family. Violet has already been teased about going into labor during office hours for her favorite Doctor-Uncle, but thanks to a lot of help; she had a fairly-easy delivery; and Ryan was apparently in a hurry to arrive; since it was less than three hours between first contractions to his birth at two-twenty this afternoon. That’s why we missed the entire event while at school; and also why Ehlana was able to go on to Jenna’s party with Naomi and the rest of the girls after stopping in at the clinic for a visit and to meet our newest cousin. Mom and Uncle Adam took great care of Violet and Ryan, but new Mom and baby will still be spending the night at the clinic to keep up appearances.
Aiden, Naomi, and I were at the clinic for that visit after school too, but when Ehlana and Naomi left to go to Jenna’s party; Aiden and I went biking on the trails with the guys – mostly to stay out of the way of the action going on at the clinic. Aiden stayed with me for dinner; and we were home in time to help with making that meal and helping out with porter duties for our incoming guests. Uncle Rick and Aunt Melissa left work early, but only after finding out that Ryan was sure to arrive before they could get here. They stopped in at the clinic first too; and then they were with us for dinner before going back to be with Violet, Dillon, and Ryan for the evening. Mom and Dad had Dillon’s family here for the meal too; so we had a lot of fun – if not quite the same as the kind of birthday fun that Ehlana and Naomi were having with Jenna and the rest of their girlfriends.
We did not go to game night at the Inn tonight. After dinner and the clean-up that Aiden and I were drafted to help out with, Aiden went home; and I helped out with kid control at the clinic – including one visit to the park playground; play time with the toys at the clinic; and a toddler-rated movie that helped to put two kids off to sleep.
We didn’t have much involvement in the celebrations for the top two anniversaries of the day, but we did spend a little time with both couples because they stopped in for visits at the clinic. Ehlana and Naomi stopped in for one last visit after Jenna’s party too, and Ehlana wants to make sure that I include the news about the trouble I got into with Naomi because they ‘caught’ me cuddling with another girl while watching that movie. Bryn is beautiful, and I do love her, but that’s totally in a niece-of-our-cousins sort of way; and Naomi has nothing to worry about from Isabelle and Andrew’s two-year-old charmer! ;^)
Moving along, we’re home now; Dad’s working in the office; and Mom is hosting most of our guests which now include Grandpa Richard and Grandma Carrie. Chris, Sadie, Martin, Kimberly, and Dawn will be coming here for visits too, but need to fit those trips in around work – especially for summer jobs; so we don’t yet know how long they’ll stay or when they’ll be here for sure. We’ll keep you posted on that, but expect that we are in for a very busy next few days!
That’s all the reason we need for getting some sleep now while we can, and that is pretty much all we have for today anyway; so, until next time...
