Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 4, 2021

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 5th Anniversary, Andrew and Isabelle!

Isabelle probably wasn’t really joking about wishing that her baby would arrive early for a bonus anniversary gift, but she still has more than a month to go to her due date; and we’re sure that won’t happen between now and midnight!  Having another reason to celebrate for the second day in a row was fun for the Jacobs’ clan, but that was also fairly low-key; since Violet, Dillon, and Ryan were getting a lot of attention – especially once they got home from the clinic.

We weren’t involved in any of that this morning.  Our last school day of the week was normal and not newsworthy at all except that the weather has been great; and we spent a lot of time outdoors.  With final tests and exams coming up next week; most of our teachers allowed for outdoor classes that were really just review and study sessions.  We’re not worried about our tests at all, but helped our friends with tutoring as needed.  That’s nothing like what Cassie, Michael, and Rowen did with their friends in high school; and that’s also why we went out to bike and play with our friends after school too while at least some of the teens at our school were busy with exams studying that will continue all weekend.

We needed to be home in time to help out with the major family dinner, but the Carringtons and Everetts hosted that meal and the evening play time – mostly because their homes are closer to Violet and Dillon’s place.  The Jacobs’ clan had their own dinner plans that were mostly for Andrew and Isabelle for their anniversary, but we were still very busy – especially since we also had our first ball game of the season tonight too.  Mom, Dad, and their Grocery Ghosts’ team mates provided half of the entertainment for us tonight, but the Witch Falls Wraiths’ players probably had more fun despite the fact that they ended up losing the season opener.  Dillon was a big part of that fun, but he wasn’t the only member of the ‘kids’ team getting teased about having their lack of ball-playing skills due to being a new parent.  There was likely some truth to those jokes, but the ten-to-seven score was far from a blow-out; and it was obvious that all of the players on both teams were rusty – especially after being away from playing ball for nearly two years.

We watched a lot of that ball game, but also helped out with kid control for our younger cousins and other friends; so we had some playground adventure time and played by the river for a while too.  The water is still a bit too-cool for swimming, but quite a few of us splashed around a bit or sat on the docks and put our feet and legs in the water for a while to cool off.

Naomi and Aiden were with us for dinner and the baseball, but we’re not doing a sleepover tonight.  Mom and Dad also didn’t go out tonight after the game while we have weekend guests; and we also have Chris and Sadie here tonight.  They got to town shortly-after the ball game started, but spent most of that time with Violet and Ryan while we were at the park.  They came here after working all day; and they’ll stay until sometime on Sunday.  Martin, Kimberly, and Dawn are now looking at coming here either Saturday night or just for a day trip on Sunday, but that’ll depend on Dawn’s work more than Martin or Kimberly’s summer jobs.  We helped out with luggage for Chris and Sadie after getting home; did some chores for Mom after that; and joined in on some of the family chat time that was worked in around visits to Violet and Dillon’s house in smaller groups.  That’s been a bit too-much for Violet and Ryan; so we need to let our guests spend time with them; since we will get to spend time with our cousin after his grandparents, aunts, and uncles head home again.

That’s pretty much all we have for tonight, and it is getting late; so we need to wrap this up and get some rest.  Stay tuned, since the fun is sure to continue in the morning, but we still need to live those adventures with our family and friends; so, until next time...
