Ethan and Ehlana:
Congratulations, Julian and Jillian Sparks –
you’re married!
We were not attending the wedding in
Woodvale today, but Cassie and Michael went there straight from their
townhouse; and Violet, Dillon, and Ryan are in Woodvale for the weekend too
along with quite a few members of the Sparks clan and a group of Julian’s
friends. A rainy day is probably never
wanted for any wedding, but that’s what we’ve had for a lot of today both here
and in Woodvale; with the only difference being that our ballgames were
postponed today while the wedding went on despite the rain and thunderstorms.
How weird would it be if that was done the
other way around? :^)
This is supposed to be a double update, but
we’re actually really tired tonight; so the details of our past few days will
be a bit lacking as we keep this short and then get some sleep.
We’ve already mentioned the shopping trip
to the city; so let’s only cover the weird parts of that little adventure. First up, while we’re basically one-hundred
percent vaccinated here at home; we didn’t get a huge turnout for the trip –
mostly because many of our neighbors continue to be cautious with going
anywhere with large crowds. We can’t
exactly explain the real reasons for why that isn’t a worry for us, but
certainly understand why that should be a reasonable reaction for them – and anyone
that has actually taken the experimental vaccines that are out there when we
won’t know for years whether those shots will protect against the inevitable
variants that will evolve over time.
Saving up a rant on that topic for another
day, because of those concerns, we only had fifty-three shoppers for the trip
to the city. The weird continued once at
the mall and other stores during the day, since being vaccinated didn’t matter
when it came to wearing masks most of the time we were indoors. On the plus side, there were some great
sales, and on the other side of that good-bad equation; we didn’t enjoy the
food court fast food experience very much at all. Add in some of the funny cameo moments like
groups of teens and tweens trying to coordinate outfits with masks; and that
should be enough to give you a good picture of our shopping trip. As usual, we wrapped up the trip with the
supply shopping; picked up fast food to go; and got home shortly-before our
last report.
Despite a very long day to that point, we
stayed up late for our sleepover at Aiden’s house; the movies, music, and co-ed
sofa sleepover were all really great; and then we were disappointed this
morning when all of the ballgames were cancelled. Unfortunately for us, outdoor chores didn’t
get rained out too; so we ended up getting a lot of wet, dirty work done today
at all three homes. Naomi and Aiden didn’t
work with us all day, but we were allowed to work together for most of the
morning; and then we were at our own homes or the bakery for the rest of the
day. For us, that meant working with Dad
in the yard, gardens, and some work in the storage barn; we kept busy until
near-dinnertime; and then we hit the showers and got cleaned up before having
that meal with just the four of us.
We were all getting tired by then, but Mom
and Dad joined us in the lounge for a movie after we ate and cleaned up from
that meal; and we just finished up with a bit of music fun that Dad joined us
for too. That’s pretty much all we have
for tonight, and we really are ready to crash and sleep now; so, until next
time...
