Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 26, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

The top news around here today has been the first snow of the season; but we’re just as happy about Jake and Stephanie’s move into the Stone family home.

Snow was falling by early-morning, so Tai Chi was indoors, but then that also gave us the chance to have our winter gear ready in time for the walk to school.  While we were busy there – including having a lot of bonus outdoor fun in the snow; Jake and Stephanie had lots of help with the move from their apartment.  Mom and Dad weren’t part of that group, but they weren’t needed; since the Wingborough and Bassett clans were there to help with all of the work; and the crews were fed at the Inn.  We haven’t been on a tour of the remodeled house yet either, but will likely get around to that eventually – and by no later than Thanksgiving; since Cassie and Michael are sure to get a tour once they’re home for that week.

The move was done before we were finished school for the day; though the unpacking will likely take a week or more.  We didn’t really even think about that much because going out to play in the snow was our priority; and most of our friends joined us for that fun.  Some of that was around our yard; the rest was at the park; and then we got home in time to warm up before dinner.  Naomi and Aiden stayed for that meal because we still needed to have our music practice; and Mom did a bonus Magi lesson with the four of us before we saw Naomi and Aiden home while taking Silkie for a bedtime walk.

We didn’t end up working or studying tonight.  Bath or Jacuzzi time was a priority by then after all of the messy snow play; so we got clean; and now we’re wrapping up our day with the usual twin bedtime chat and this update.  There isn’t really much more to add for the news of the day, but since we’ve skipped writing about anything from current events around the world; we’ll offer just a bit of commentary and a pandemic update.

We’ll pass forty-four million confirmed cases by tomorrow for the worldwide total; and top nine million here at home.  The new case surges in Europe continue and are spreading; and that’s true here at home again too.  With normal cold and flu season just beginning; the next four or five months are likely to be challenging – particularly in those coronavirus outbreak areas where only tests can definitively show the difference between the similar symptoms.  The use of masks could actually have a big impact on the normal fall and winter illnesses, but there seems to be more and more people fighting against any restrictions; so that is far from certain.  We’ll continue to keep you posted on the pandemic now and then, but let’s move on to other news; and then wrap this up.

The presidential election is getting close, and to be honest; we’ll just be glad to have it over – and hope that getting the results won’t be dragged out for even days let alone weeks or months.  We’re likely supposed to be too-young to be cynics, but let’s be honest – nothing will really change in Washington D.C. no matter who is in charge.  We won’t be at all surprised if that doesn’t change until after the Ascension of the Light, but don’t tell any of those politicians, since if they’re still in office when that happens; their careers after that will be short-lived. ;^)

The wars and saber-rattling going on around the world continues to worry us more, but there isn’t anything we can do about any of that yet; so we’ll continue to hope and pray that people will come to their senses before we get ourselves into more trouble than our little planet can handle.  Finally, while we’re dealing with snow and wintry weather today; the gulf coast is going to get hit with another storm this week.  They don’t need that or all of the rain that will come with it; so our thoughts and prayers are with those people too.

That’s a lot of bad news for one day, but then that seems to be the case every day lately with no end in sight.  The good news, though, is that there really is hope for our collective future; and we’re going to be at the center of helping to make that future come true!

We won’t get much of that done during the rest of this week, but we are still kids; so we’ll settle for having more Halloween fun for the rest of the week – right after we go and get some sleep starting right now.

This is Ehlana and Ethan Proctor; live from the hidden home of the Magi of the Light – and May the Magi Force be with you!
