Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 13, 2020

Ehlana, Ethan, Naomi, and Aiden:

This has been a very busy day!

Our top news is that we’ve picked out our costumes for Halloween, but before we get to that; we should mention that Grandma and Grandpa are on their way to Arizona.  They’re driving so that they can have their own vehicle there for the winter – and because Grandpa really wants to get out and see the sights again instead of just flying above them.  Mom is also in the city with Dad – and she’s gone for two days this time.  We’re all at Naomi’s house for the night; and we’ll be at Aiden’s house tomorrow night.

We’ll enjoy the co-ed sleepovers while we can; since we’re sure the parents will have a different opinion of them once we’re tweens and teens – even while we’d be sure to like them more! ;^)

Getting back to the Halloween costumes thing, it was announced today that instead of trick-or-treating in town this year we’ll be having a parade for kids and teens; and there will be safely-packaged treat bags for all participants – along with prizes for different categories.  We’ve decided to go as Naomi and the Phantoms.  We’re sure that Mom will not let three of us use phase-shifting to actually look like Phantoms, but we’ll come up with something else that will work instead.  We are going to get Mom to have some Magi lesson fun with us, though, and see if we could replicate those scenes in Julie and the Phantoms that have the phantoms disappear at the end of their songs.  It would be awesome if we could use a phase-shift and then seem to disappear with a time-shift!  Exit, stage invisible! ;^)

We’re going to start music practices to get ready for our ‘show’ tomorrow night, but we did some work on that tonight – watching the YouTube videos for the songs from the show; picking the songs we’ll use; and changing up some lyrics to fit in with a group that has two boys and two girls.  There will be more on that as we go along, but that’s all for Halloween-related news for tonight.

Our first home school day of the week felt different because we were all at Naomi’s house today; and her Mom had the day off from the salon to work with us.  ‘All’ didn’t include all of the kids we’ve had at our house, but Liz had Zack and Eli too; so she’d have had a quieter day working at the salon!  We had fun, though; she set us free at two-thirty; and then we went biking on the trails and at the park.  We also checked out the progress for the new trail; though the crew is working in an area we can’t get very close to right now; and the final surfacing of that section of the trail won’t be finished until they get to the next crossroad; so we can’t bike on it either.

Naomi’s parents fed their gang of kids a pizzeria pizza dinner, and while we loved that; we also won’t comment on Zack and Eli and their food and drinks games.  They haven’t decided on their costumes yet, but a couple of Animal House frat boys might be too-close to reality for them to consider – not to mention that they’ll want to go with something scary.

Yes, we know, but what scares us – and their parents – doesn’t scare them!

We’ve had a fun evening too – even with Zack and Eli in top form and doing their best to annoy us.  They were happy when a video game competition kept all of the guys busy for an hour or so; continued gaming on their own – with breaks for prank attempts – while the rest of us watched a Halloween movie; and the gags and pranking has continued since we got set up for our family room, co-ed sofa sleepover.  We’re still listening to Julie and the Phantoms’ songs while writing this and doing our bedtime chat.  The co-ed cuddling is our favorite part of this moment; and we might have heard the last from Zack and Eli for the night.  They just got caught using a drone to take a video of us – due to the crash; not the attempt at getting video ‘evidence’ on us to share with their friends.

Note to Zack and Eli – don’t cause even minor damage while flying drones in the house, since if not for that; Liz would just find your pranks amusing!

That’s pretty much all we have for today.  It isn’t extra-quiet around here just because most of our family is elsewhere tonight – or actually any quieter than normal at all despite the teasing otherwise.  We’re just more-interested in continuing the bedtime cuddling; and don’t want to get into any serious news commentary.  Future readers of our journals also already know that Cassie and Michael are doing great with their mid-term exams, and since Cassie’s still busy with another late-night study session with their friends; we haven’t talked to her tonight – and don’t need to do that to know she wrote another round of perfect exams today.

We’re really fired up about our new Halloween plans; so we should also likely wrap this up and get some sleep soon so that we’ll be ready to work on that – and we can be ready for another at-school day too.  Stay tuned; since we think that our adventures for the rest of October are now going to be even better than we expected and hoped!
