Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 10th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!
We did not hold back on the top news of the day and weekend – it is just more-fun to write about some things as they happen instead of including those stories ahead of time.
The main news for today is that we’re having a weekend away with a handful or two of parents; two teens; and a small gang of kids. The parents are staying at the usual hotel they use when visiting Cassie, Michael, Rowen, and Tim; and the teens and kids are with our favorite collegians. We’ll get to that part of the report soon, but let’s back up to the start of our day.
Tai Chi by the river was very chilly – with the temperature in the mid-thirties; we followed that up with a major anniversary breakfast that grandparents, parents, and kids joined in on while getting Mom and Dad’s celebration off to a great start.
Let’s not comment on the real reason for why they were so happy this morning! ;^)
We still had a school day to get through, but the weekend adventure news was included with the gifts; and we also got out of school early so that we could get to Cassie and Michael’s place by dinnertime. Yes, that is shocking that we actually left school early, but we took video lessons and assignments with us; and that kept us busy for a lot of the trip to Cassie and Michael’s townhouse. Mom and Dad weren’t part of a caravan for the trip, but Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne traveled with us while the other parents and teens either left before or after us. Naomi and Aiden were with us in the minivan while Zack and Brianna had Eli and Faith with them. The actual drive time was fun, but not newsworthy; and we were glad to get to the townhouse.
The reunion with our favorite collegians was short for the parents because they dropped us – the kids – off and then went to check into their hotel before we all met up again for dinner at Anthony’s. Michael’s and Tim’s parents were already in town by then; but Rowen’s parents, Patrick, and Jessica left home after us; and ended up meeting us at the restaurant instead of the townhouses. Anthony’s is one of our favorite restaurants, and while he hasn’t ‘adopted’ Cassie and Michael; we’re all treated like family now; and that interaction is as much a part of the fun as the great food! We couldn’t all be together for the meal due to social distancing rules in the city, but we still had a blast; and quite a few of Cassie’s and Michael’s friends were there too.
We ended up staying at Anthony’s for nearly two hours by the time we finished dinner; the parents had a fairly-scary bill to pay when we left; and then it was back to the townhouses for quite a few of us – though the parents kept that visit short before heading for their hotel for the night. Cassie multi-tasked some studying with helping to keep us entertained. Michael and Tim led some video gaming with the guys; and the girls hung out around the dining room table for some chat time and listened to music. Jessica and Patrick are also going to be helping out with some babysitting this weekend, but other than hanging out with us tonight; they didn’t really need to do that yet; and they’re with Rowen and Tim for the rest of the night since they went next door a little while ago.
Cassie and Michael are much-busier with eight kids, but we’re happy; since co-ed sofa sleepovers are an option for the four of us camping in the living room. Brianna and Faith, and Zack and Eli have the guest rooms for the weekend; and they’re all sleeping as we write this because even Zack and Eli ran out of steam after a long, busy day. Cassie and Michael aren’t sleeping yet, but they did just head up to their room after a last bedtime chat with us; and we’re winding down and getting ready to sleep soon too.
We really should get to the sleeping part of our day, since we do have a lot planned for the weekend, but before we go there; we should at least mention the top news story of the day – President Trump’s positive test for coronavirus. We wish the best for everyone dealing with this disease; and that isn’t something we believe is true for everyone using the news for political or financial gain. While getting into a rant or commentary on this is very tempting, we’re going to keep the anniversary-themed happy going instead; and leave the political analysis to others.
Wrapping up the first day of our weekend-away adventures with some quality co-ed cuddle time is more-fun anyway, so we’ll wrap this up; do that; and write-to-the-future again tomorrow night. Stay tuned; since the fun really is just getting started! ;^)
