Ethan:
Happy 8th Birthday, Joshua!
Before I get to the birthday party news;
let’s start this report with the rest of the news from yesterday.
Dinner was delayed due to extra patients at
the clinic, but that just gave us extra time to play before we ate; and less
time for the movie part of our night. We
had fun with all of that; and then Ehlana and I were happy to head up to the
lounge with Naomi and Aiden after the aunts, uncles, and cousins went home for
the night. We watched more movies, but
the cuddle time with Naomi was my favorite part of the night; we got to have a
nap together; and then we were sent to bed when Mom and Dad checked in on us
after they were finished having their own nap in the living room because they
fell asleep during the movie they’d picked to watch too.
Our mornings are always more-fun when we
get to have Naomi and Aiden exercise with us; Dad cooked up a hot breakfast;
and then it was time for chores for four of us while Naomi and Aiden either
went home or over to the bakery. Mom only
had us work until eleven-thirty; I got ready for Joshua’s party; and then we
had a light snack-lunch before I met up with Aiden and we headed for Joshua’s
house and party for the afternoon and evening – and my sleepover at Aiden’s
that is one-half of the plan to get Mom and Dad a kid-free night. I am not going to report on that story at
all, but I’m sure that you can find it elsewhere in the archives if Ehlana
doesn’t choose to write about it either – and I’ll try not to think about why
you might want to read about things like that in relation to my parents! ;^)
Moving along, Joshua’s party was typical
for the local Neanderthals – I mean for guys our age. The games for prizes were all video-based; we
had an hour or so of outdoor play time that was likely an attempt to tire us
out a bit – or just give the adults in the house a break from Joshua and his
friends; there was more video gaming until dinnertime; and then the usual
kid-rated food and birthday fun. Having
Pizzeria pizza for an option at birthday parties is still new-enough that the
choice is a big hit with the kids – including Aiden and me. The Olde Bakery cake and treats is always
great – even for the kids of the bakery owners; and Joshua was very happy with
his birthday gifts that included a new bike and more video games and gear for
his two favorite game systems.
There was more gaming after dinner, but the
party wound down from there, and Miles was the only friend staying for the
night with Joshua because they’re like Zack and Eli; and no parent in their
right mind would want them to have an overnight audience to entertain without
having extra help – or babysitters and tents so that trashing the house wasn’t
an option either. Speaking of trashing
Joshua’s house, that did happen; and then some of us did more than others when
it came time to clean up before we headed out.
Aiden and I were razzed about helping out too much, but we did it anyway
and took the heat; and some of our friends helped out more because of that.
Note to any friends that might read this in
the future – now you know why; and it isn’t because we’re afraid of our
Mommies! It is true that we wouldn’t
want to disappoint them, though, and for some of us; that’s a better motivation
than fear anyway.
Moving along – again, I went home with
Aiden; his Mom checked in with us before going back to bed; and then we’ve been
in Aiden’s room since then. We’ve played
more video games; had a bedtime vid-chat with Ehlana and Naomi; and Aiden is
now sleeping while I’ve been winding down with a bit of light archives reading –
only a couple of thousand pages to help me sleep. We’ve had a really good day; I’m glad that we
could help Joshua with having a happy birthday; and now I’m ready to get
started on the nap part of my night – so I will.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Ethan is being nice by not mentioning that
Aiden and I had a cuddle-nap last night too – though that isn’t quite the same
for us as it is for Ethan and Naomi; since our cuddling is more like sitting
close together and holding hands instead of stretched out on the sofa with arms
wrapped around each other. The good news
for us, though, is that we don’t have the same opportunities for digital photos
that we’d get teased about – and our parents take it easy on us because they
know that Aiden doesn’t handle those jokes as well as Ethan and Naomi do. We did have a good night, though; and I
really loved everything we did – whether that was the dinner and movie with our
family or the cuddle time and movies with my favorite brother and best friends.
As for today, Naomi and I really loved not
going to Joshua’s party. While we love
our two favorite boys our age a lot, Miles and Joshua really are at least as
scary as Zack and Eli; and they are at their worst around girls – especially the
girls that they like to annoy the most.
Naomi and I spent our afternoon getting our hair done at the salon;
doing a bit of shopping; and then hanging out at her house – including helping
her Dad with making dinner for four because Aunt Leanne took pity on us and
offered to keep Eli with Zack instead of inflicting them on us for the night.
Sorry, Brianna, but you’re better at
sticking up for yourself against them than we are; and I’m sure that you’ll get
Zack-free nights in return for your sacrifice tonight.
Dinner-for-four with Naomi’s parents was
fun; we watched movies and played for the rest of the night; and Ethan’s
already mentioned our bedtime vid-chat – though he didn’t include the exchange
of good-night ‘I love you’ assurances that always make Naomi smile while making
us very happy. I am not doing any
studying or lab report reading tonight because I’m taking a break from that,
but the bedtime girl chat has been fun; and now we’re winding down with music
and pretty much ready to crash and get some sleep.
Sure, our day hasn’t been
birthday-party-fun, but from our perspective; it’s been better! Stay tuned for more fun with the second-half
of the weekend; since we’re going to have some fun – starting with when Ethan
and Aiden see us in the outfits we picked up to wear to church and Sunday school
tomorrow. Add in the hair play fun we’re
sure to have with Naomi’s Mom in the morning; and it’s possible that our
favorite boys will be temporarily speechless! ;^)
Okay, they might not be if I look like a raccoon
from lack of sleep; so I’ll wrap this up and make sure that doesn’t happen.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
