Ethan:
Happy Shrove Tuesday!
Olde Bakery Paczkis, pancake dinners, and
other awesome treats were the highlights for today; and we sampled some of
everything available at home and school.
We also took the day off from the lab; had play time after school with
Naomi, Aiden, and our friends; and then split up for those special dinners with
our own families. Work and studying
after the dinner clean-up was still needed, but Ehlana and I got to spend that
time with Mom and Dad; so that was good too – and we do like our doctoral-level
studies and Magi lessons quite a lot too.
We’re thinking about giving up bad guys for
Lent, but that might be too-much to hope for; and it isn’t really in our
control. I’ll guess that Gwyneth
Hathorne is not going to give up being a Dark Magi Master anytime soon; so we
should probably just shoot for something more-realistic – like taking a break
from Skittles or other candies or chocolates instead.
I’ll let you know how that goes – though that
little tradition isn’t really something that most of our family, friends, or
neighbors follow with any seriousness.
That’s all I have for tonight; so I’ll wrap
this up and get some sleep.
Ethan – out!

Ehlana:
Ethan’s covered the basics for today; and I
don’t have any news for Cassie and Michael; so let’s include a few comments on
Shrove Tuesday and Lent.
A Magi Master perspective may offend some,
so if that might include you; stop reading now and flip the digital page to the
next update!
With that warning; here we go.
It’s no surprise that Shrove Tuesday is
very popular – since we get to have all of the treats for a day before starting
the sacrifices of Lent – and that’s also why the longer period between now and
Easter isn’t nearly as popular! Ethan
made light of that in his update, but don’t take that the wrong way – Magi Masters
just have a different perspective and understanding of God’s will and know that
the bible is simply misinterpreted – either inadvertently or intentionally.
News flash – God has a bowl of Skittles on
his desk!
Okay, that’s not true – he doesn’t even
have a desk or an office. My obtuse
point, though, is that we focus on ‘things’ to give up – if we think about
making sacrifices for Lent at all. God
would be much-happier if we gave up things like jealousy or hatred instead –
and those kinds of ‘sacrifices’ don’t only need to happen once a year after
spending a day eating special pastries and having breakfast-for-dinner. That sort of thing does apply to us – and I
mean Ethan and me. Magi Masters are not
perfect; and what we should be giving up for Lent this year is our anger toward
Philippe and how he’s been treating Cassie.
She has – and I’m sure of that; so it’s even worse that we haven’t done
the same when he actually did nothing to directly hurt us at all.
Yes, it can be worse when someone you love
is getting hurt instead, but that’s no excuse for holding onto anger and hate.
I’m not going to turn this into a
rant. You get the message; so I’ll hope
that instead of being annoyed with the messenger; you just consider what’s
really meant by the traditions of the Easter season.
If you do give up anything for whatever
Lent season is next on your future calendar; make it something meaningful – and
then maybe only give up the red Skittles too. ;^)
Okay, I’m done – and out of here.
This is Ehlana Proctor; coming to you live
from what is now my past!
