Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - September 22, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

This has been a pretty good start to our week; and that is partly thanks to dodging more rain and getting to have a dry football practice after school!  No, I’m not including the cheer squad for that, but only because they would have had their practice indoors if it had rained this afternoon.  Ehlana and I were happy to have our Tai Chi workout by the river to start our day; we had a hot breakfast with Mom and Dad after that; and then moved on to our academic adventures after that.  There isn’t any news worth mentioning from our classwork, but we had fun with our friends; and then our practices went well too before we came home with our four best friends for our now-usual dinner and study session that we host on Mondays.  That might only continue through our football season, but we’ll keep you posted on that; since we do like the music fun and group Magi lessons a lot too.

We’ve done all of that since getting home – including music practices for both the school band and Naomi’s group; and the Magi lesson with Mom was a blast.  Don’t take that comment literally, since we didn’t blow anything up – we’re just getting to learn some group uses of our Magi abilities that add up to more than the six of us could collectively do individually.  Mom is also going to do some work with Naomi and Aaron; since we want them to be able to take care of themselves when they’re at college without us for their Freshman year that is now only three years away for them.  On the Naomi and the Haunted Harmonies side of our music fun, we might add a bonus single to our recording session after playing around with a new version of a song we like from a recent Netflix animated movie.  It might sound a bit strange to some people to have One Voice Children’s Choir cover a song from a movie called KPOP Demon Hunters, but the song – Golden – is very popular right now with hundreds of millions of video views; and we like this version enough to make up our own cover and harmonies.  The song will work okay for an addition to our Halloween-themed music – though unlike the movie; we do not expect our music to vanquish Dark Magi! ;^)

We’ll let you know whether we add that song for a third single or not after our next session on Wednesday night.  As for the rest of our news; our friends stayed until nearly ten o’clock; we walked Naomi and Aiden home while taking Silkie out too; and then we did a bit of time-phased work in the office with Mom before coming up to our rooms and getting started on our bedtime twin chat and computer checks.  We’re getting tired now; so let’s get to the world news update and then call it a night.

The top stories today have included the Charlie Kirk memorial service from the weekend with calls from his widow for forgiveness and love for all, but then there were also new stories about shootings at a wedding and an ABC network affiliate office on opposite sides of the country that continue the recent, violent protests.  None of these recent shootings do anything beyond proving that there are insane people in the world; so we also are not going to even mention the supposed ‘causes’ behind the shootings – not even for the historic value that might be there for future readers.  Instead of doing that; we’ll hope that your future will not have crazy people doing insane things at all!

Speaking of insane; some of our least-favorite world leaders are clearly members of that group; since there is a lot of nonsense being spewed about direct war with Russia instead of only through the Ukrainian proxies.  Why those politicians can’t figure out that Russia has nukes and would use them if ever actually on the brink of losing a war with NATO is beyond comprehension; and provoking them really is insane.  On the Russian side of things, President Putin has offered an extension of the START nuclear treaty for a year to allow for negotiations to happen that haven’t really even been started yet despite the imminent end to that treaty early next year.  We have no idea whether ‘our’ side will agree to that extension, but then we honestly don’t know why Russia would trust any agreement with us when we continue to break those deals anytime we decide that our interests have changed.  That’s certainly true in the Middle East as more countries join in on recognizing a Palestinian State without any details on where that place would be while also claiming that Israel would retain full authority over the Palestinian people.  Meanwhile, Israeli leaders are calling for taking over the West Bank as well as Gaza; the genocide of the Palestinians continues; and the world does nothing more than offer meaningless platitudes.  All of that is sickening to us; and we really wish that we could go there and just put an end to the fighting.

Let’s stop there before we get going on a rant.  This really has been a good, happy day; and we don’t want to end it feeling angry and upset.  We also need to get some sleep while we can; so we’re out of here right now and off to what we hope will be happy dreams.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
