Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy Labor Day!
The workers of the world that get to have an extra day off generally appreciate the paid break from the daily grind, but Ehlana and I know that the ability to celebrate is inversely correlated to income; with the richest having a very different opinion about the holiday too. We could add commentary about those wealthy people continuing to get full service from their personal servants even on holidays, but then maybe that would be a bit hypocritical; since we did go shopping and enjoy one of the buffet dinners at the Inn today! Then again, we were also servants for the rest of the day after our weekend guests headed out; since we moved on from that noon buffet to chores at multiple houses and cottages to get everything cleaned up and loads of laundry processed from washing to putting towels and linens away!
Ehlana and I had a lot of fun back at the park during the dinner with family and friends through the family dance that started to wrap up early as the imminent return of more rain became obvious to everyone. We actually brought first loads home at ten o’clock along with the small gang of teens we hosted for the rest of the night. There was only a bit of video gaming while we got settled in and then we watched a movie and enjoyed the teen chat time and co-ed cuddling for the couples in the lounge. The rest of our guests eventually moved on to bedrooms, but Ehlana and I kept our favorite cuddle buddies in the lounge for our nap time; and we won’t comment on whether there were any other co-ed couples in the house beyond the adults on the second floor! ;^)
Tai Chi was by the river this morning; Mom and Dad drafted us to help with the semi-major breakfast adventure; and then we headed out to the stores for our holiday shopping adventure – starting at the Galleria. We played around town until we needed to be at the Inn for the noon buffet; and the weather stayed dry until then to help with making the walks between stores easier for everyone. The rain did return shortly after we sat down for that meal; and we’ve had rain off-and-on for the rest of the day since then. Ehlana and I were on junior kid control for lunch, so we didn’t spend much time with our outgoing guests, and with the rain falling when we left the Inn; the goodbyes were quick as we all either wanted to hit the road for home or head to our homes or other indoor destinations.
Ehlana and I haven’t had friends with us since then because Naomi and Aiden had their own plans for the rest of the day. As already mentioned, we kept busy with chores at multiple locations; only got wet when moving between places; and we’ve been home since getting here in time for a late dinner. The chores continued after we had that snack-meal; we’ve used our Magi talents to help with getting everything done so that Mom won’t be stuck with too many chores tomorrow while we head back to school; and now we’re winding down toward bedtime after the bath or Jacuzzi time that we needed after all of the shopping and chores.
We should offer more for the rest of the weekend update, and maybe we will do that tomorrow night, but I’m actually out of steam and really need to re-charge; so let’s just wrap this up and call it a night. There is always world and political news we could write about every day, but instead of getting into war reports tonight; let’s comment on the dangerous side of nature. One of the top stories that aren’t getting much attention in our country is the earthquake that just hit Afghanistan. This quake was more of a problem due to location than strength; and the damage is extensive because building standards are comparatively-low. Mom has already started directing charity resources to the area; and we’ll do what we can to help the people most in need right now. We’re mostly choosing that story because even with all of the man-made bad in the world; we should remember that our planet offers many natural challenges to our survival; and that’s yet another way that we could be spending money instead of on weapons to make life better for us! There really is no good reason for why there are so many people left vulnerable to natural disasters when we have the knowledge and technology to mitigate many of the problems. Then again, humans are apparently dumb too; since we do still build communities in dangerous places – like on coasts prone to storms and even cities at the foot of active volcanoes. We obviously don’t learn from history, and just for fun, I’ll mention that there are Magi Master records about some of the most-famous disasters in history; so we have a unique perspective – especially from the Magi Masters that survived those disasters thanks to their abilities. Maybe I’ll put something together on that topic with some of the best stories about surviving disasters – though that topic wouldn’t be high on my priority list for work that needs to get done in the archives over the next decade or five!
I’m obviously getting too-tired to keep going; so that’s all for this final update of our summer break. Stay tuned, since Ehlana and I expect our high school adventures to be amazing – and we’ll get started on them in the morning!
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
