Ethan and Ehlana:
Happy 5th Birthday, Colin Sinclair!
Happy 25th Birthday, Lee Hu!
While we haven’t helped out with either of the birthdays of the day for family and friends, we are about to head over to Miles’ home for a camping night to help celebrate his birthday that we’ll officially ring in starting at midnight. This could prove to be a different party for all of us because he’s invited all of the guys on our football team too in addition to the normal classmates and near-age family. We’ll include all party details in our next update, and need to get going soon; so let’s get to the rest of the news for today-so-far.
Tai Chi was by the river and chilly this morning thanks to the cool-down into the low-forties overnight. We had more fun thanks to the extra exercise buddies; followed that up with a hot breakfast that the teens in the house cooked; and then we got right to the weekend chores once the morning meal clean-up was done and Sophia and Aaron moved on to their own work plans for the day. Naomi and Aiden worked with us most of the time; we had chores at a total of five homes and cottages; and only took time for a snack lunch while trying to get everything done by now so that we could get over to Miles’ home with time to set up our tents and gear for the night. We’ve done that; are only split up from Naomi and Aiden while we’re all getting cleaned up and ready for the party and camping night; and we’ll collect our dates for the party on the way.
The rest of the news can wait for tomorrow night, but we can mention that Mom and Dad are looking forward to their kid-free night; and the lack of news about their plans for the rest of the day strongly suggest that we won’t want the details. Let’s also add that Ehlana and I are very happy to have parents that share such an amazing love and partnership, and just because we don’t need to know certain specifics about why they are so amazing together doesn’t mean that we don’t appreciate them and hope for that kind of love for our own futures.
We really do need to get going; so it is time for the big wrap-up. While we don’t want to get into much world news today, we can’t resist commenting on President Trump’s announcement that the Department of Defense is now going to be the Department of War. That is quite the statement to make to the rest of the world from the leader that insists that he is all about peace and seems to have a fanatical need to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the amazing number of wars that he’s ended in just his first seven months! Yes, there is a lot of sarcasm wrapped up in those comments – though we’re sure that our leaders can spin this nonsense easily enough when we all know that war really means peace; so what was really announced yesterday is that the Department of Defense is now the Department of Peace! The rest of the world must be certain that they have nothing to worry about now that all of our vast military power will now be completely focused on ‘peace through strength’ instead of the previous seven or eight decades of policies where we ruled the world by hegemonic force. This change is sure to instantly make life better for both our allies and foes, since the ongoing death and destruction is much better when in support of or at the hands of the Department of War-Peace!
Ehlana is heading downstairs now instead of helping me out with this little rant, but before I catch up with her; I can’t resist adding a few more notes from the world news front. More threats are being made against Venezuela after the alleged ‘drug boat’ was destroyed by our peace navy; and the fallout from that continues as no proof is offered and it is apparently now okay for our leaders to play judge, jury, and executioner without proof or trial whenever they want to do that and regardless of whether some or all of the people killed are actually guilty of anything. Picturing that scenario happening here at home might seem impossible, but then another story out of Germany might have many people thinking differently. Seven German opposition party politicians ‘mysteriously’ died in one day just weeks ahead of an important election; and that sort of thing should enrage everyone that believes in democracy. There have been a lot of bad things happening here and in Europe – including assassinations and attempted assassinations, but what seems to be happening in Germany is dangerous and needs to be condemned and stopped before history repeats. It might be more-accurate to suggest that history would only rhyme in this case, since we’d be on the same side with Germany and Japan this time around, but then history is rife with examples of foes becoming allies from one war to the next; so why should that be any different for the future? After all – we are currently allies with Germany in support of the Ukrainians in their war against Russia. Let’s not forget that we were against the German genocide in World War Two and now support the genocide against the Palestinians being inflicted by Israel, but then that’s just another example proving my point.
Ehlana isn’t going to care about this rant when I’m supposed to be helping her with hauling tents and gear to the party, so that’s all for now; and we’re back to living the adventures we’ll write about tomorrow night.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
