Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - September 4, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Our third day of the school year has been as-busy as the first two, and we’re tired; so this is going to be a quick update.

Tai Chi by the river was chilly as the morning low dipped a bit below fifty and we’re getting at least a temporary, early start to fall weather.  It still warmed up into the mid-seventies this afternoon and we didn’t get rained on for football or cheer squad practice, but there is more rain in the forecast; and we’re currently hoping that we won’t have rain to deal with during the game tomorrow evening.  The academic adventures for today got more serious now that we’ve moved on from the usual start-of-term introductions of the curriculum for each class and we had lessons and homework assignments pile up as we went along because we’ll have until Tuesday to get the assignments finished for our Day Two classes.  That seems weird, but also normal for our school; and it isn’t a problem for us to get the work done anyway.  We got a lot of it done between our practices and the first game night at the Inn of this school year.  Sophia hosted us for that dinner and study session; and we all went to the Inn for the gaming too.  All of that was fun, and while we might add in other friends for some study sessions; we want to study with just the six of us when we can do that and also speed up the work using our Magi talents.  Sophia and Aaron will definitely do more of that with us this year; and we always have more fun together.

Game night was fun, but we didn’t bring home any championships tonight for our family.  I can’t blame that on being tired after the football practice, since Naomi and I did place top-three; and that’s pretty good for big turnout nights with lots of older teens to compete against.  It definitely wouldn’t be much fun for everyone else if Naomi and I won the junior title every week!  Ehlana wants me to record for posterity that she doesn’t think that I can tell the difference when we win or lose on game nights; since Naomi’s hugs and kisses with me are the same either way.  That’s true, but I do know when Naomi is happier after the wins.  We took Silkie for a walk after leaving the Inn and then walking Naomi and Aiden to their homes; Mom did a Magi lesson with us once we got back; and now we’re winding down fast toward nap time and need to get all of the sleep we can ahead of our first road game of the season that will include the bus rides on top of the academic adventures and the football game.  That’s why we’re going to skip the world news update – though taking breaks from that also helps out with staying happier.  We hope that our future journal readers enjoy a state of perpetual happiness, but whether that is true for you or not; we need to move on now and get started on that quality nap time.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
