Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 6, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’ve had a warmer afternoon here at home, but it was below-freezing this morning; so Tai Chi was indoors.  That was still fun, and we enjoyed the standard school day breakfast with Mom and Dad.  Our academic adventures kept us entertained while at school and there was some outdoor time this afternoon, but we had the school band practice after school; so we didn’t get to join in on the biking and play time that some of our friends had fun with while we were busy with our music.  That practice went well and we’re ready for the Valentine’s Day seniors’ luncheon next week.

After coming home, we helped Mom with making dinner; enjoyed that meal with Mom and Dad; took care of the clean-up; and then we all worked in the office for a few hours.  Mom did a Magi lesson with us too, but we kept the time phasing to a minimum; and wrapped up our work-fun at ten o’clock.  Bath or Jacuzzi time followed; and now our computing and twin chat time has helped us out with winding down toward nap time.  Cassie and Michael still have a bit more work to do in the Brisbane area, but they’ll be heading to the airport soon for a Wednesday evening flight to Cairns and the start of their four-day mini vacation for Cassie’s birthday.  We don’t want to get ahead of their travel stories by commenting on the plans that we know about, but can safely mention that they haven’t had a single problem with any of their work plans, meetings, or site visits.  They didn’t actually expect any issues like they had with the one deal they walked away from in China last summer, but unexpected problems are always a risk; and they do still need to deal with all of the people that want to either get a piece of the action or stop them when their projects get in the way of plans that others have that are usually exploitative instead of in the best interest of the people we aim to help.  Ethan definitely doesn’t want me to get into a rant about that kind of thing; so I’ll go along with that and just enjoy the wins that Cassie and Michael have enjoyed over the past month!

Let’s wrap this up.  The world news doesn’t include any good news for any of the current conflicts.  Our hearts continue to go out to everyone being hurt by the wars and other horrors being inflicted on so many millions of vulnerable people; and continue to wish that we could do more to help.  There is no serious diplomacy happening; and it is fairly-obvious that the meetings with leaders that are happening are nothing more than theatre; since nothing in the ‘real’ world changes for the better.  Ethan is silently pointing out that I’m not exactly wrapping this up very quickly, and maybe I’m writing about these issues too-often, but we do still spend time every day keeping up with the news and discussing anything we can do to help, so while that isn’t a huge part of our lives and we don’t personally have any problems like that; it is still important to us.  What does that say about our world leaders that there is at least one entire generation of kids that haven’t experienced life without wars.  That sounds wrong to me because that hasn’t happened for us personally while that is definitely-true for kids in the Middle East and elsewhere, but my point is still valid on many levels – including having a generation of kids that have lived with that reality but from a distance that de-sensitizes us from the horrors of war.  We get the Hollywood version through the news and media; don’t experience the death and destruction that includes losing loved ones and more; and look at war more like a video game.

Okay, Ethan – you’re right and it is time for me to move on and focus on the love and joy in our lives.  While he helps me out with that before we split up for nap time; let’s end this with a wish that your day whenever you’re reading this in our future is amazing – and that your world is a happier, more-loving place too!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
