Ehlana and Ethan:
Happy 4th Anniversary, Brock and Karla Benton!
Cassie and Michael are at their party tonight, so we haven’t seen them much today. We’ve instead kept busy with school, lab or archives work-play after that; a quiet dinner with Mom and Dad, and then game night at the Inn.
Our top news of the day is really from yesterday. Without naming names, we generally had a happy group of girls in our class with only one guy messing up Valentine’s Day for one of our friends – and that wasn’t one of the ‘usual’ suspects for that kind of trouble. There were a handful of holiday misses for the older teens too, but maybe we’ll have better luck than the average for our friends over the next four or five years. Yes, that’s a lot to hope for when about half of the population is male, but it could happen!
For the record, Ethan doesn’t disagree with me! ;^)
Moving along, our babysitting adventures at the Ayres’ home did not include Pizzeria pizza, but dinner was finger foods that we helped to cook; all of the kids were good for us – even Zack and Eli; and thanks to a work-school night; the kids were picked up by eleven o’clock and we brought Naomi and Aiden home with us. Leah and Sebastian kept Hailey and Caleb with them and Faith went home with Brianna, but other than that; there weren’t even very many kid-free nights for the parents involved.
Mom and Dad didn’t mind having four tween-teens at our house last night. They joined us for a visit in the lounge before going to bed; and we stayed up and watched a movie while winding down from the babysitting. That meant staying up too-late, but Magi-powered fatigue healing was an option; and our morning was more fun thanks to sharing Tai Chi and breakfast with our best friends. That’s pretty much all of our local news that we will report on today.
I really need to write about world news tonight, but instead of getting serious; let’s take a walk on the weird side of life. First up, the response to more videos from Moscow by Tucker Carlson are funny and ridiculous; since all he’s done is point out a few differences in everyday life for Russians in their capitol city. Sure, there is more to that kind of story than a few sound bites, but that doesn’t change empirical facts like a pristine subway station and system or grocery bills that were a quarter of the cost here in our country. Whatever anyone wants to think about other countries around the world or their political systems, there are definitely valid points when it comes to quality of life. That is why we love our little town and the life we have here – and keep in mind that we could afford to live anywhere and choose to be here where we are surrounded by so much love and happiness.
It is too-easy to pick comedy from our leaders in Washington and elsewhere, but there has been more of that than usual recently; and probably shouldn’t be funny considering how awful those leaders are when it comes to the current conflicts and the rest of the problems in the world. Since I am not supposed to go there, let’s wrap this up with one more really dumb story. In this case, that comes thanks to body cam videos from two police officers that temporarily lost their minds. To keep this story short, the bottom line is that one of the officers mistook an acorn falling on his police car for a gunshot; started shooting up his own cruiser – including reloading and emptying two full clips into it; and then his partner joined in because she reacted to his claims of both being shot at and shot. That scene wasn’t funny for anyone at the scene, since there were bystanders and they also had a suspect in the car related to the call they’d been responding to; but that hasn’t kept the jokes from flying about the dangers of parking under nut trees – or living near them!
Okay, that’s enough for today. We’re looking forward to the weekend; hope that it’ll be quiet; and that we get to spend some time with Cassie and Michael. We’ll let you know how that goes for us, so stay tuned; and we’ll move on and get some sleep now.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
