Ehlana and Ethan:
We’re having a quiet evening at home after working on chores for a lot of the day with a couple of hours of biking and play time with our friends once the work was done. Compared to the rest of our story from yesterday, that wasn’t newsworthy, but we have still had a good day; and welcome the break from all of the busy tonight.
Backing up to the rest of our news from last night, the biking and fun with our friends while enjoying the warm weather continued with the gang that stayed with us for a barbeque dinner that Dad grilled for us with sides that we helped Mom to make. It was cooling down by dinnertime, so we enjoyed that meal in the sunroom; the teens and tweens took care of the clean-up; and then we still had the extra friends around for our band practice, video gaming in the lounge, and the first movie of the night. Mom and Dad had some company too along with some cousins, but it wasn’t a full family-and-friends’ night; and all of our guests headed for their own homes or elsewhere by ten-thirty. We kept Naomi, Aiden, Sophia, and Aaron with us for the night; the extra movies, chat time, and co-ed cuddling combined to make for a great end to our day; and then we only ended up with a handful of hours for the co-ed sleepover part of our night.
Tai Chi was by the river again this morning, and we loved that, but it was also cooler; so we might not get to do that for much longer if it chills to below-freezing again each night. Mom and Dad cooked up a hot breakfast; we took care of the clean-up again; and then our friends all moved on instead of trying to work together on our chores. With another high near sixty, there were outdoor chores to go along with the usual housework; and that’s why we needed more time to get everything done. We had a snack lunch; met up with Naomi and Aiden once we were set free; and then we’ve already mentioned the biking that went along with a football scrimmage for the guys; girl chat time for Naomi and me with some of the other girls at the park; and some playground fun with younger cousins and kids before we split up again and headed for our homes.
While we’ve had a non-news day, Grandma and Grandpa have been continuing Grandma’s weekend-long birthday adventures, and while they’ve had a cooler, rainy day; they simply changed up their entertainment options to include indoor activities. Don’t scare the grandkids with thoughts about what our grandparents might have included in that play time! Moving along, it is Sunday in Darwin for Cassie and Michael, and while they’ve done some work and will add in a bit more sightseeing; they’ll be heading for Brisbane next for the last blast of work on their travel schedule. We don’t need to get ahead of that story for them, but they’ll spend three days working in the Brisbane area and then they’ll be having fun for the rest of their time in Australia while celebrating Cassie’s birthday and through until they fly home from Sydney. That seems like the start of a wind-down over the next week, but we are mostly just looking forward to having them home again; since we have really missed them. That reminds me that we haven’t done a local update for them lately, but that’s mostly because we haven’t needed to do anything at their house thanks to the nicer weather, and while we should have mentioned Mandy more-often; she’s currently taking a turn staying with Faith; and has had some play time with Brianna since her last visit with us. She’ll likely go home sometime next week; and we’ll have more on news for Cassie and Michael’s house; since we’ll be sure to have at least one chores day there. Some party jokes may be part of our story over there too, but that is all they’ll be; since we wouldn’t actually throw a major party at their house while they are away!
Moving along, I can’t resist commenting on the latest news from the Middle East. Retaliatory attacks have started this weekend, and while we had hoped for cooler heads to prevail, we are not surprised that another escalation was chosen instead; and our country’s response to one drone strike that killed three of our soldiers and injured dozens more has been to bomb more than eighty targets and killing and injuring a still-unclear number of people. News flash to the leaders of the world – more bombs, death, and destruction is not the answer to the core problem caused by the bombs, death, and destruction in Israel and Gaza. I also want to mention the news that Europe has approved more than fifty billion more in support for Ukraine. It wasn’t a surprise to us, but we again hoped for better; and really can’t understand why any of those leaders believe that doing more of the same thing that has led to hundreds of thousands of casualties and trillions in destruction will lead to a better outcome instead of simply causing more death and destruction. Okay, we do actually understand why those decisions are being made, but few or none of those reasons are for good; and we really, really wish that we could just step in and put an end to all of the insanity.
That isn’t going to happen – though it is occasionally fun to imagine a scenario where we could put an end to all wars with the help of our Magi talents, but if we actually tried; it would be more-likely that those world leaders and their armies would just turn their weapons on us instead. We’re fairly-talented, but fighting off all of the armies of the world might just be a bit too-much for us!
It is obviously time to wrap this up since that idea is silly – even if it might make for an entertaining Hollywood movie; so let’s call it a night and Ethan and I will move on to some quality nap time now.
Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
