Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 10, 2024

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’re going with another afternoon update today, but that’s because we’re booked for a babysitting night at the Carringtons while the parents go out to dinner at the Inn and a party at the pub; and might not have time to do this later.  Let’s pick up our story from where we left off yesterday!

After collecting Naomi, Aiden, and their gear along the way, we met up with Sophia and Aaron at the school; set up our gear while the gym was being set up for the dance; and then we had time to get ready for the dance and have dinner.  For the girls, that included a stop at the salon to get our hair done.  Those weren’t major appointments, but we had fun; our hair looked great; and our favorite boys appreciated the efforts.  Mom and Dad hosted dinner for eight; we headed for the gym in time for a quick warm-up; and then we had some time to socialize for the first hour or so of the dance before taking the stage for an hour and a half or so and entertaining our fellow teens and tweens.  That was one of the best parts of the night for us; we had some work to do to pack up our gear and send it home with Dad in the minivan, but then we returned to the dance and left uploading the van again until we got home.  We danced a lot for the rest of the evening; walked home; took care of that band gear work; and had a visit with Mom and Dad before coming upstairs to get started on the co-ed hang-out time and sofa sleepover.  Try not to be shocked, but we didn’t actually end up staying up half the night because some of us fell asleep before we got half-way through the first movie.  I won’t offer names and make fun of them for that – and not just because I was one of them! ;^)

Thanks to the extra nap time, some of us were more-rested than others this morning, but you might be more-interested in learning that the most-tired members of our little group this morning were also, suspiciously, the happiest.  Tai Chi was by the river; we had a hot breakfast, and then Sophia and Aaron moved on while Naomi and Aiden stayed with us and we shared to chores day and worked together while doing those chores at four homes – including Cassie and Michael’s house.  Their place is pretty much ready for their return – though Mom will add fresh groceries on Monday or Tuesday; and we’ll do a last run-through sometime too – probably on Monday afternoon or evening.

That pretty much brings us up to now.  We’ve hit the showers and are ready for our babysitting night.  The Carringtons are hosting one gang of kids that we’re taking care of with Naomi and Aiden; and Sophia and Aaron are doing the same for next-gen Bassett cousins and other kids at her house.  The biggest difference for them is that they will only be keeping a few kids for the entire night while Uncle Adam and Aunt Leanne will have most of the kids at their house for the night.  We’ll keep you posted on the details with our next report, but let’s move on now to a quick travel update for Cassie and Michael.

They are just getting started on their last full day in Sydney and Australia; plan on keeping most of their sightseeing outdoors; and are sure to have more fun than we will while our top challenge will be keeping Zack, Eli, and the other guys out of trouble while the parents are playing with their friends.  We don’t expect to talk with them very much between now and when they get home on Tuesday, but that’s mostly because we’ll be busy tonight and then they’ll be sleeping on their Sunday night ahead of an early start to their Monday when they’ll need to get to the airport for their long flight home.  We’re sure that they will make the most of their play opportunities today; and look forward to having them home again soon!

That’s all we have for now, so we’re out of here; and will be on our way to the Carringtons’ in time to help out with the kid arrivals and pre-dinner entertainment.  We’ll do our very best to survive through to our next update! ;^)

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
